Looks great but I do struggle with Mr Cookie.
Edit: Just played the opening track and suspicion confirmed - horrendous Death Metal vocals. If I could take him out of the mix then it'd probably sound as good as it looks.

Yep, got to agree. Looked good, but sounds horrible

Not bad, though definitely down the pop prog end of the genre.
Bit of Collins and Gabriel about the vocals on occasion, but I'd suggest a Sound of Contact feel to it overall, though not as good.

This stuff you listen to really is absolute fucking crap, Bob. I mean, honestly. It really is.

Simple. Just don't visit this thread if that's how you feel. It really is that easy. Some people are however in new prog music.

Greek prog band's second album.
Excellent, ranging from pop prog to folk, ambient and spacey and a fair bit in between.
Really interesting album and one I'd recommend highly.

The Source - All Along This Land
Young band from LA's debut album.
Only on first play still but I am loving this. With talented young musicians writing and performing prog like this it would seem that the genre is in safe hands, even if the style is fairly retro at this stage.
For some reason they really do seem to be a well kep secret with very little on YouTube so this will have to do - part 1 of a 5 piece Suite. They are on Spotify so do give them a try - more than promising.

Hard rock Canadian band with hints of prog and definite Middle Eastern influences - this is a pretty fine Greatest Hits compilation. They will sound familiar on many levels.

The Room - Beyond The Gates of Bedlam
New release from British crossover prog band - I found the beginning a bit weak (maybe it's getting used to the slightly strained vocals) but it gets better as it goes along.
Perfectly pleasant without ever souring...

Re: Post-Prog Corner - First Movement (Quality Not Quantity)
The latest parcel of goodies arrived from Burning Shed this week including these two that I've been playing tonight:
His first solo album in name only as the first few Pineapple Thief albums were effectively solo albums but I guess these days he considers Pineapple Thief to be a full on band. More stripped down than his band albums and sounding very good on the first couple of listens and will get many more plays in the coming days.
Unfortunately the same can't be said for this:
Lacklustre 4th album from the now virtually Wilson-less Blackfield. Sadly most of the talent in this duo seems to have gone with him.
