Rumors of the death of the JUotA have been greatly exaggerated.
Heading to Restless Records momentarily.

I took a bus down to Dusty Grooves but wanted to be back in time to make it to 666 to wish Martin and Denise a safe journey and I mneeded to eat so I came back to my room and will chill until 6. If M & D see this and want a place to sit besides the lobby, you are welcome to stop in. I have a bottle of Cote du Rhone rouge opened if you are thirsty.
@ Uncle Spellbinder, great to finally meet you in person and I love the montage you made. That was a great venue last night. It fit our needs perfectly.
Green Mill tonight or tomorrow and the Art Institue tomorrow, especially if it is wet.
Edit: scratch that staying in the room stiff. I'm off to Reckless if it is dry outside.
Edit 2: it's raining buckets out there. I shall revert to plan A so the bar is open once again. I'll head down to 666 @ 6.

Ah, had I checked in here I would have gotten the memo regarding Reckless Records. We did our own record shopping though. Maxwell St Market. Some lunch at Moxee. Then enjoying both Logan Hardware locations: the record store and the barcade.
Changing from wet clothes, we'll see folks at 666 soon.

i waited outside the door for you but you never showed up. It was smaller than I thought but good selection and prices weren't bad outside of early pressings of highly sought jazz title.
It was great seeing the Chicago BCBers last night.

For anyone still around wanting to meet up tonight, the tentative plan is to meet in lobby of Days Inn at 7 and we'll take it from there.

I actually bought a plane ticket to this and booked a hotel and was going to surprise everybody. As most folks know, my dad took a turn for the worst so I cancelled both. Southwest is letting me use the reservation later this year and I got a full refund for the hotel.
Looks like you guys had a good time though.

Re: JUOTA 2015 Chicago May 22nd-25th
As for the pursuit of music, after we checked out of the hotel at noon, leaving our bags at the hotel and visited Gramophone Records (more because I wanted a t-shirt) and then Dave's Records, both near the hotel. We were thinking we were in pretty good shape time-wise as we collected our bags and got on the bus.
I'm not going to entirely blame us missing our check in time for our plane on the vinyl chase. But, we got there 3 minutes too late to check our bags. Wound up on standby for the next plane to Philadelphia. We were the only ones who got in. And we're home.
Ten years ago we had the first JUotA, so it's that long since I first met Yomp, The Fish, Six String, the artist formerly known as Loveless, and Phenomenal Cat. How fucking cool to have such a well turned out event.
I'm too road weary at this point to give my recap this evening. Know that Daddy Longlegs and I had a terrific time and it was really good to get to re-connect and meet more BCBers.

It would have been great having you here John. I'm sorry things didn't work out. Next year?
I am preparing my last night of sleep before heading home and I have to say it has been a great JU imo. There weren't as many crazy drinking sessions but they still solid. As far as hanging out and talking to fellow BCBers it was superb. Frank is one hell of a guy. It was a real pleasure bending elbows with him. I got to recommect with Andy's wife Fawn who became a ceramic artist since I met her so I got a chance to talk with her about that which was great as I dn't get to talk about that stuff very often.
I went to the Art Institute today and spent 3.5 hours there and wish I could have done more. You really can't do it all in one day. Tomorrow it is Homeland Security and Airplanes. i'm glad I have six more days of holiday left so I can catch up with gardening and get back to work on my DynaTrem stomp box.
Big thanks for Andy and JSJ for popping in and guiding us to local venues. Big shout out for Buddha B Rex and Count Machuki. Both exceeded their persona on the board and I enjoyed time with them as well.
I know I'm missing some names but I have to go to sleep so I can make my plane tomorrow. Safe travels everyone. Another one under tge proverbial belt. I'm lookiNg forward to the next one.
