West Ham United FC
so we can finally celebrate the demise of the ‘infamous’ gang of 4.
with sam at the helm and teddy steadying the ship, a top ten finish is guaranteed.
that noble, tomkins and carroll have been left out of the England squad, is a disgrace and a blessing.
Us Irons must believe. the spirit of moore, hurst, peters, bonds, devonshire and Sir Trevor Brooking truly give us the upper-hand over the perinnial bcb holier-than-thou toffees.

Surely the big story in London this season was the inspired Arsenal FA Cup win?

No, QPR defying all the odds and getting promoted despite the huge burden of their wage bill.
Oh, wait....

I'm glad that we didn't get rid of Fat Sam. Just hope that he manages to build on what he's done as he did at Bolton by adding some flair soon enough.

Okocha, Djorkaeff , Campo and Anelka.
I'm not saying that they were a "flair" side per se, but in his last season or two before he went to Newcastle he definitely sweetened a tough Bolton team with some flair players. To me, Allardyce builds his sides defensively so that they don't concede first and then moves on from that. Whether he succeeds at West Ham - I don't know. There's not much money to play with and against him I've not seen many young players come through recently. I hope that he can tame Ravel Morrison too.

Well he's pretty much been told he has to play more attacking football, so we shall see.

Re: west ham united 2014/15
valencia signing confirmed subject to WP being granted, which should be a formality.
probably the club's second biggest transfer fee. i hope they were scouting him before the WC because it would be ridiculous to sign him on the strength of 3 games.
obviously, i hope he succeeds but would have preferred someone like jordan rhodes. still, good to see the dildo brother s digging deep!

Is Valencia going to play with, or instead of Carroll?
I suspect the Hammers' best deal of the summer so far was getting Poyet from Charlton for not-a-lot

for the money, he must start with carroll.
can't see poyet starting. he will warm the bench, which is fair enough.

If it wasn't so entirely predictable, it would be sad.
The guy was signed unfit. He has spent his whole career injured. No matter what, West Ham were done up like a kipper just as Liverpool were before that. Your best bet is to sell him, and cut his wages off your bill. You will be lucky to get 15 games a season from him, spread over his contract. That is appalling value for money and - for someone like Allardyce who constantly quotes metrics and science- it's a shameful waste of precious cash. It wasn't an entirely scientific approach needed to say - he is constantly injured, why the fuck should we pay £15-£18 million for him?

i have mixed feelings, pete. 15m seems pretty standard fare these days, especially when you consider fulham paid £11m for that leeds fella.
i rate carroll, i really do. i'm sure west ham wouldn't have signed him in the knowledge that he would be so injury-prone. you just can't foresee such things.

Re: west ham united 2014/15
His record throughout his time at Newcastle and Liverpool was atrocious injury wise, Adam - it wasn't a secret.
It's incredible that the guy has been transferred for £50 million. He has played something like 140 games in 9 years...

yes, of course it is, but 35m was no normal transfer fee. 15m for an england centre forward is pretty much the going rate. lambert went for almost 10m and he's in his early 30s.

Lambert went for £4 million.
I'd rather pay that than the £15-£18 million West Ham paid for Carroll a year ago.
