He has become the Spitting Image puppet of himself.
I kept thinking "swim as far as you can, swim as far as you can".

It's funny cause it's true...

I'm at work and couldn't listen to what he's saying, but he's gesticulating like a very bad actor (or a nervous TV presenter).

he's lost a sense of perspective since linda died. he needs reeling in, a decent tailor and a new wig.

why does he need to do it?

retire on your glory, promote animal welfare and embrace your past rather than destroying it with each and every new release.

I don't mind him touring or releasing records if that's what he likes to do. My response to the video was more rarely have I seen someone so forced, you'd think at 71 he'd finally be comfortable in his own skin. McCartney still comes across like a gauche teenager trying to impress by putting on an act. I think of his contemporaries and, whatever you may think of them musically, they're not like that -they're rounded personalities. I find it very odd.

well put, G. i agree entirely.

my only interest in macca these days is his support for animal welfare. i admire him immensely for that.

The McCartney clip is absolutely piss-yourself funny. I honestly like him - always have. He's lived a strange life. I don't know if I'd expect much different.

I liked that clip! Get well soon and come back to rock us, Paul!

Sure it's funny in a corny dad-rock kind of way. He's old. I wanna give him a high five.

Glad he's feeling fit enough to tour again.
I think that clip was a little bit awkward, but talking to camera isn't always the easiest thing in the world.
The world was holding its breath waiting for me to post that, obviously......

I've actually watched the video before. I don't know what to say, really. It's ridiculous, but I think after 40 years, he's not uncomfortable necessarily, it's who he is. Having seen his show recently and having been blown away at the show, I have a tremendous amount of goodwill for him. The air guitar is deeply stupid, but he's Paul McCartney and if he didn't want to do it, he could've told whoever suggested it (if it wasn't his idea) to fuck off.

I think "hooray, I get to see Paul McCartney again!" Last show I saw by him had me in awe.

As for the promo itself, seems no more better or worse than any brief off-the-cuff promo you'd see on t.v. (like the little promos for SNL) or you'd hear on radio by a deejay. I think he genuinely enjoys playing for his fans, puts a lot of work into his shows at an age when he could just hire a bunch of girl back up singers and do medleys of "Silly Love Songs" and "Mull of Kintyre" so that's genuine excitement.
Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?
