Game of Thrones

Postby Polishgirl » 14 Jan 2014, 13:11

Am watching the 1st series this week, as my scary police lady friend lent it to me ages ago, and if I don't finish it by the time I see her at the w/e, she'll likely arrest/taser/brutalise me.

Anyway, I'm enjoying it. Sean Bean is...well...Sean Bean. The sets and costumes are great and I'm CRAZY about the title sequence, where all the settlements wind up out of the map like clockwork toys.

But I have never seen so much bumming and decapitation in one series in my entire actual LIFE and I'm only 4 episodes in....

The violence doesn't relent but the sex does sort of a bit. I feel that they toned it down a bit for Season 2 and 3 compared to the 1st.

Anyway, enjoy as it's a great show.

I am, a lot, I have to say. My friend sold it to me as basically The Tudors with dragons - piqued my interest.

I would be pleased if the shagging let up a bit though, so that's good news. It's not that I'm a prude or anything; it's just that it gets to the point quite quickly where you know it's nothing to do with the story and everything to do with a bunch of middle-aged TV execs and directors wanting to see many, many pairs of bouncing, pert tits.

People will inadvertently spoil it for me on Facebook if I don't watch them right away, or I'd do the same.

Have never used FB or Twitter so spoilers from that direction are not a problem for me.

Last night's episode was a triumph! I especially developed a huge admiration for The Hound and his frequent use of "cunt".

"As if men need more reasons to fear their wedding"

That was a bloody intense episode. But it was fun watching Joffrey take the piss at Sigur Rós.

What a great character though, I was surprised to find out he was an Irish actor. Brilliant casting, he really does look like his father is his uncle.

I've only ever seen around five minutes of it and found it mind fuckingly tedious, tbh.
Can't see what all the fuss is about. I won't try it again.
