I think that Rush, having already done a Moving Pictures "time machine" tour, missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity this year: they should have gone on the road playing 2112 in its entirety. They could have called it "The -100th Anniversary Tour."

I'm going to put this on eBay over the next few days. Quite collectable, it seems

I've just learned that The Velvet Underground (third album) was the first LP that MGM Records (in the US) released after they stopped releasing mono LPs. Which suggests to me that there might be an unissued mono version of the album lurking in the vaults.

Hey, Universal Music - how 'bout a 3-CD "Deluxe Edition"!

Celtic Woman tickets cost more than Lang Lang tickets to Atlanta Symphony Orchestra subscribers.
And sold out within a week of going on sale.
What a world...

Fact: almost any three pre-1965 Beach Boys studio LPs (twelve-trackers all) will fit together on one 80 minute CD.

Ha! I love that! You'd think an egghead like Peart and a couple of nuts like Lee and Lifeson could have come up with that.

The official website – which has been created and approved by Paul McCartney and the McCartney family - will be the first time Linda’s extensive and varied work and life has been collected together in one place in this way. The website will feature sections devoted to Linda’s biography, vegetarian cooking, photography, music and films.

The launch of this site comes ahead of the publication of a special new book of Linda’s photographs entitled ‘Linda McCartney: Life In Photographs’, which is set to be published by Taschen in April.

What the fuck? What's wrong with this? Seems like the right thing to do for the memory of a great lady whom Paul loved with all his heart, who was, by all accounts, a really good person, and also who was a very good photographer. I mean, is there something I'm missing?

It strikes me that Velocity Girl only had one song in them, which isn't saying much.
It's not much of a song.

Yup. :(

But I was listening to the new VU&N box yesterday, and got to thinkin': they could do something similar for each of the other albums... stereo mix, mono mix, alternate stereo mix in the case of the third album, singles mixes, live shows from the same period, radio ads, interviews, and so on.

Something tells me they won't do this, but they could, and should.

They might since that seems to be the latest trend as far as box sets go - covering individual albums instead of career spanning tracks. I guess it will depend on how well VU&N sells.

I just heard my first Marillion song today.
I reckon it'll be my last.

You know that song, 'Solsbury Hill?'
For more than 20 years I've thought that was by Fleetwood Mac.
Turns out, that's Peter Gabriel.

For those who listen to music in the car: Y'ever drive to, say, the grocery store, and when you get there you stop whatever song you've been listening to in the middle - then, as you leave the car and go in and shop, the song continues to play in your head? And then maybe the song after that, if you've been playing a favorite album? And then when you get back to your car and start the music up again it feels weird 'cuase you feel like you've already listened to these songs?

Or is that just me?

Somehow I have six Joni Mitchell records on vinyl. I have never considered myself a fan, but I like them all.

if, only Joni sang and played as badly as Neil Young
she be post punk post grunge post modern profit
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.
