oh christ, you people are doing it to me again. first rory vs steve. now rory vs. marillion. and yes, i happen to be a marillion fan. i think it's a great epicky thing, those slower, calmer sections and how they build, etc. on the other side, we have my fave rory track ever.

i want y'all to know that i love massive, complicated topographic prog as much as the next bastard, gotdammit, but the songs themselves fall as they will. i will as i will.

and it's rory.

Much as I love Rory as the next man and although I understand that Prog is a broad church, I don't class him as Prog.

Marillion on the otherhand took up the prog mantle in the 80's when it was 'unfashonable' and have been running with it ever since.

So is Rory prog then? I think there's room for him in the broad church even if it's only in the vestry. And I'm afraid that Marillion track is the sort of thing that turns me into a prog-denier.

As worthy as Rory is I'm not really a fan of that kind of thing and that live track doesn't sway me at all (and it has a drum solo!)

I like that marillion track very much so this is one of the easier votes for me.

Downloaded this on Saturday and it's a wonderful albeit somewhat predictable* 17 minutes.

Not a big fan of the Hogarth era of Marillion, really. I think Marbles is a rather terrible record, actually, but this song is nowhere near as bad as what was on the original record. I'll go with A this time.
