I ate a hamburger at Jack in the Box one time that had protesters outside holding big signs saying that Jack in the Box used horsemeat.

Tasted okay to me.

I like to try whatever the locals eat, but I do draw a line at seafood.

Guinea pig is bloody nice. Especially guinea pig crackling. Had that in a swanky restaurant in Lima (Astrid Y Gaston, it's number 42 in that list of the best restaurants in the world, if anyone's interested, which is unlikely, but, you know...). I reckon that's probably the thing i've eaten that would cause the most people to wince. I think I had chinchilla once in Peru too, but I can't be sure.

Also enjoyed reindeer, elk, llama, alpaca, kangaroo, buffalo, wild boar and a few other things. All good.

I was about as ill as I've ever been after eating too many snails in the company of Goscinny, the writer of the Asterix books, when I was a teenager. 3 days by a loo. These Gauls are crazy.

I was served horse's tongue once (also in france). it was fucking horrible.

There's not many animals I wouldn't eat, i don't think, apart from anything unsustainable or cruel. Or cat.

Maybe in your neck of the woods, but all of the ones I've had have been local products.

I ticked five on the list as things I like -snails, octopus, rabbit, black pudding (love it!) - although I much prefer the British version to the Spanish one and er..something else.
I didn't tick sushi as I've never been particularly wowed by it.

edit: mussels was the other one.

Mom made calves brains once or twice. You scramble the brains up with eggs.

Most frogs legs come from subcontinental India and surrounding areas where the frogs are brutally relieved of their legs by grabbing the frog in both hands and striking it down onto a large curved blade set in the ground. The legs are lobbed into one filthy bucket, the rest of the - still living - frog into another bucket to die slowly in the asian heat.

Needless to say, I have no intention of ever eating them.

There was a documentary on a while ago about this. Pretty horrible to watch.

Black Pudding (delicious, very common in Holland, fry apple slices with it is fine)

Carpaccio (great but didn't eat it that often)

Octopus (oh, once, fried in oil meant for French fries, wasn't great but will try again, the texture I was very wary of)

Tripe (acquired taste and it comes in many shapes, but it's great, very folkish)

Mussels (run of the mill in Holland, almost everyday food, and luuuurrvely)

Rabbit (my mum makes the best rabbit in the world)
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

Food section the Guardian, 2010:

Tripe has got a lot going for it - it's cheap (so far, though offal has been rather inflated in price of late), it's nutritious, vitamin filled, unfatty stuff, and according to these purveyors in Leeds it increases libido fourfold. It even has some appealing name associations - I'm thinking honeycomb or leaf tripe here more than reticulum, stomach lining or digestive tract.

On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

All of them except dog. And regularly too, apart from frog's legs. I've eaten bear, though.

Snails-Just had those last year in France and thought they were nice. I had about twelve of them and that`s about enough in one sitting. Next time though I want to try them on a pizza.

Black pudding-Not as bad as I thought it would be but no great desire to try again.

Raw oysters-Tabasco and a little lemon and right out of the shell. Have`nt ate them in quite awhile but love them.

Frogs' legs-I`m originally from Missouri so this isn`t odd eating this. Anytime I mention it around here (Devon) they can`t believe it and automatically tell me the French eat them too. Bullfrogs are the best, legs almost as big as a chickens.

Dog-Never had it

Horse-Never had it but would try it.

Carpaccio (raw beef)-I`m not that much of a beef eater so I believe I would have to pass on this. Plus it does`nt sound very appetizing to me.

Sushi-Lots of people I know like this and I enjoy loads of seafood but oddly enough have never had this.

Octopus-Had it breaded a couple times in Memphis and thought it was great!

Tripe-Never had it,I would try this. I tried to get some relatives to fix it for me when I was on holiday but they all refused. They said they hated it and it smelled up the kitchen so that was a no go.

Mussels-I like these fresh or the packs that you get at the supermarket with butter and garlic. My wife and I sometimes get this on the weekend. I had a real hankering for them at one time and ate them eight Saturdays in a row. Goes well with a nice fresh stick of bread.

Pigs' ears-Never had these either. Saw them in the supermarket before and turned my stomach a bit. I had pigs feet when I was young and no desire to have those again. All I can remember about the feet was not much meat and loads of fat around them, yuck!

Rabbit,Goat-Both barbecued are pretty tasty. Have`nt had these in years but would eat again.

Things that I have ate and enjoyed not listed are: red squirrel, alligator, pheasant and snapping turtle soup.

None of the above.

And EVEN my dad wouldn't eat tripe....

The texture of sushi is what makes it so delightful and that can be drastically affected by a) how fresh it is and b) how it's prepared.

The two best places I've had sushi have been in Montreal and on a beach in a Japanese village near Niigata. With the latter, the fish had literally been caught about 10 minutes previously and then was cut and prepared in front of me.

It's difficult to find very good Sushi in the UK without paying a lot of money for it. High St sushi places like Yo Sushi! etc aren't very good. Itsu's ok but you get what you pay for.

I like sushi, but I haven't had it for a while, actually since I had some at a Japanese restaurant in Dhaka a couple of years ago.

To say I was ill is an understatement.

Anyway, I've eaten most of the things on that list. I'll try anything once, I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food. I've eaten things in China where I'm still not even sure what they were, not even if they were animal or vegetable, or something else entirely :?

I once ate at a banquet in Lagos, and had both chilli snails and Goat's head soup in one sitting. Both were OK.

I did, to my shame, once eat shark's fin soup at a restaurant in Wanchai, Hong Kong. I was with a client, she'd taken me out for dinner, and I didn't want to seem rude by refusing it. I feel bad about it though.

I was handed a stir fry in China with what sounded like locusts included.

About an inch long, torpedo shaped, quite crunchy.

Turns out it was lotus. Cock-up in the translation department.
