Your own or someone else's?

Either. Hummus is Satan's toe cheese.

It is fucking rank and no mistake.

I don't think I could distinguish it from earwax actually.

Can´t choose between garlic bread, soup, spring rolls, samosas, or chicken livers (in a pate with a nice sourdough bread yummmmmmmmmmmmm!)
Oh well, what the feck.

North Americans seem afraid of garlic. We have it in almost every meal. No armpit stink here.
The better half here, we aren´t afraid of garlic we just don´t want to offend those who don´t eat it for every meal. You are my garlic buddy, and frankly you smelling of garlic is the least of your olfactory offences!
Oh well, what the feck.

Include Canada in that. And over here, we spell it differently. :)

Mind you they call main courses 'entrees', which shows both an ignorance of French and a desire to confuse tourists. ;-)

I know, right? I live in a very French area, and we call them 'entrees' as well. WTF?

Has anyone mentioned escargots?

Four big French ones. I haven't had any in years.

Ooh! Get you.

Garlic bread serves all occasions.

And melon is a fucking lame starter. Only my mum serves that these days.

Actually, melon with Spanish ham is a cracker of a starter. Very summery.

Only one option. That's too much pressure.

Garlic bread won this poll outright.
Did you vote four times?

(In fairness, I love it too.)

I only voted once but it was so strong it registered four times!

Just voted!

I’m going samosas, though spring rolls are up there too.

Me too.

I went with the prawn toast, not because I like it more than all the other options, but because it means I'll be having crispy duck next.

That may be my favourite food ever.

Sometimes...

Now, I’d probably add a chips and salsa option which probably hadn’t grown on me by 2012.

depends where I am.
If I'm in Maine it will be Oysters with rose champagne
if I'm in the Mediterranean then Hummus or grape leaves
If I'm in Asia tons of options from Pakora, samosas, thai rolls, summer rolls, egg roll
If its cold - soup
if its hot salad.

I know I'm a pain in the ass

No calimari? It's the starter to judge restaurants by.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I'm judging you on your spelling.

Can't believe pakoras and spring rolls - two wonderful appetizers/starters - still have zero votes.
