You may have noticed that I did rest the foot lightly on the accelerator because, as you are no doubt aware, being ignorant of one thing doesn't make you wrong in everything. I felt though, in the context of all that slagging off of someone's intellect, that folks should be careful about appearing themselves, well, intelligent.

What the fuck are you on about?

I think you've appointed me to that position, not myself.

Although it's probably for the best seeing as my moral compass is decidedly against sex with children and slavery, as well as their enablers.

And why would spelling something wrong mean someone isn't intelligent? I've known many intelligent people who were careless with their English.

Exactly
Look at Corporate Whore for example. His spelling is atrocious and...errr....oh...perhaps that's a bad example.

As you were.

Theists can get very touchy about the subject of intelligence, not surprisingly, but you can't argue the facts.

There really needs to be more work done on it.

I'd imagine irreligiosity would correlate more strongly with educated people with a scientific background as it is that sort of questioning, logical intelligence that examines god and discards the hypothesis like Laplace.

There are plently of well educated non-scientific people who are atheists but plenty who are theists as well. Creationist web sites are inundated with well educated engineers ansd lawyers who are insanely religious. Engineers are particularly bad as they see god as some sort of super engineer and believe everything needs a creator because they can build a bridge. But they aren't stupid, just deluded.

Often.

But sometimes they are just poorly educated, and sometimes just willfully ignorant because they can't reconcile their religious beliefs with science and their religious beliefs are more important to them. And some are just dishonest snake oil salesmen making a living from rubes.

It's minty fresh and baited for kisses! Well, that's what the breath mint commercial told me but I'll be damned if I've lured in so much as a peck :(
