Following on from the suggestions in the other thread I'm gonna suggest MUD.

symbolically The Clash and Pistols are nice, but artistically they can't stand with the other two

I probably prefer the Clash's peaks, but they weren't at all consistent and pissed about unconvincingly in several genres.

Led Zeppelin managed almost as many good years as the Beatles, and I think it's inarguable that there are more great songs in their back catalogue.
