Heya! I was just coming here to post that.
Mildred Pierce - I'm enjoying it. I didn't read the novel, but I have seen the Joan Crawford film, so it took a little getting used to the slower pacing, since it's 8 hours instead of 2. It's very well-done, I think. Winslet is just fab as usual, and Guy Pearce is great. Don't want to ruin anything for ya, but there's nudity and hot sex!
The best parts of the story are yet to come.

I hadn't heard they were remaking it. I'm glad to hear such positive comments. I haven't read the book, either, but I wonder how one could make it into 8 hours. The film and the role is so indelibly in my mind as Joan Crawford with proper film noire creepiness about it, I am very curious as to how Kate Winslet would play it, in a modern way.

Re: Now Watching on TV
The local paper had good things to say about it.
Going to have to wait for the DVD though as I don't have HBO.
On the brighter side, tonight brings a new episode of the Big Bang Theory. And the first two discs of Season 1 of Sons of Anarchy should arrive tomorrow from Netflix.
Of which I've not seen a single episode yet.

Seconded.
Note to self. Make an effort to watch series 2.

For me it has been the weakest season so far but still brilliantly funny in parts. (the live one though was so bad I had to turn it off)

Live one? I must've missed it.....
The repeat last nite was one of the funniest ones - when Jack and his pregnant wife go to Toronto, and she immediately goes into labour.
Canadian jokes are so funny.

The literal translation of the Czech for 'practical joke' is 'Canadian joke' (kanadský žert)
Any idea why?

Reruns of this:
Though I have the sound down as I'm playing records at the same time.
Tonight though brings the premiere of
Which is, I think, the American version of the Danish show discussed on another thread here. Haven't seen the original, so can't comment on that.
I'll give this a go though. AMC tends to produce good shows, Mad Men, Walking Dead.
