Right. Time to get really fussy.

A has Sam and Dave, Pixies, and Kim Wilde tracks you'd have to be crazy not to love. There's also the oddest of things - a beautiful Talking Heads' song - and carefully-chosen gems (Black Keys, Beck, Flaming Lips) from more recent times.

But then you've got the vile XTC, an odd Supergrass choice, an even odder Neil Young choice, and a fair smattering of crap. Still, at least I actually know most of it - points for that.

B is even more 'conventional', by BCB standards at least. You've got ELO, the Teardrop Explodes and Ian Dury's best-ever songs, smart De La Soul, Isaac Hayes, Madness, John Barry and Death in Vegas numbers, and they've even managed to find great music from The Cure and The Small Faces.

Unfortunately the list contains the pointless Arcade Fire and the stodgy Elbow.

It's really VERY close, but this time I have to give it to

B

quite pretty, good for a laugh but a bit crude at times, and with a big wart on its back and really smelly feet.

I think I voted against these last time, despite there being good things on both. At this stage, you're always - I think - going to find things you like on the lists, so you need to be a bit more wary. I think A has the edge in this one.

There's a right old mish mash of ace and shite in both lists...

I'll go for A though.

I voted for both these lists in the past but this time I'm going for

B

I know it's a populist list but it's a great wee collection of songs, topped by "Night Boat to Cairo" and Cara Dillon - whose voice I love. There's just some good songs in there.

Two rather inconsistent lists, though the more I look the more I realize A has more good and less meh.

A squeaks it out. Both inconsistent, and A is top heavy, but overall it has more that excites me.
