Continuing our series of lesser discussed Beatles tracks, what do we make of this Lennon number from 1968..?

Oh, I absolutely love it, and always have. And I've never understood the dislike.

Kind of a dud, relatively speaking, but not a stinker.

If this song was done by anyone other than the Beatles, you'd be bashing it.

I don't mind it within the context of the album, but I've never enjoyed it much.
There's something unpleasant about that plodding, but strident chorus, and hitting you with it right at the start seems to make it worse.

I probably consider it something less than a true gem, but voting categories being limited, that's how I voted.

I really love listening to the White Album.

I concur and voted average.
I like the tambourine in the second half.
It's a nice set up for While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

I like to think I could dislike a record while appreciating the craft that went into it.
This isn't one of those records.
Close to the bottom for me, Beatles-wise.

This is it exactly. On its own it's a enjoyable but distictly minor but sequenced the way it is on the album really enhances it. I voted minor but I wouldn't want the White Album to be without it.

Its great, fantastic, fab etc etc

Just because its fun, doesn't mean its a lesser track and certainly skewers its intended victim. Ive always liked the "Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes" bit.

I voted gem.

It's got that sepia toned wooden White Album darkness all over it.

Excellent track. Sounds super duper homemade, in the best possible way.

I could do without the song that follows it.

It's the one Beatles album with a bit of spook to it (no Billy Preston jokes, please).

Same for me.

Which, again (c.f. "Wait"), doesn't mean I don't like it.

But I like it rather less than "Wait".

Well, let's see: I like it more than Revolution No. 9, and less than Honey Pie. Howzat?

(Upon reflection, I prefer Howzat to any of those)

Voted Good - far from a classic, but perennially happiness-inducing.

To be fair, set up nicely by Macca's previous wacky experimentalism.
The quiet flamenco guitar intro with sudden loud chorus never fails to lift the spirits.
Great Chris Thomas mellotron too.
Classic Yoko mini-lead vocal.
Macca's bubbly minimalist bassline.
The whistling at the end

...what's not to like? Ten times better than the joyless Harrison monstrosity that follows, for sure
