I'm not taking away from the guy's talent. However. . . . .

He's the most un-ronnie lane like bassist on the planet.

Really really really poor selection if true.

This is just one of the many reasons why I don't the outside world to intrude on my life any more.
I think I shall go and live the life of a hermit in cave somewhere so I don't even know this stuff is mooted to happen.

As has repeatedly been shown, truth is stranger than fiction, because fiction has to have at least the plausibility of being fact, where as fact has no such obligation.

Typical NME - still reporting rumours when facts have already been stated...

They announced that they'll be using Rod's touring band's bassist. Whomever he is.

Kinda like getting Mike Watt to fill in for Dave Alexander in a Stooges reunion...

Somehow I doubt, even if it is the case that he winds up playing with the Faces, that he'll be looning about with nothing on but a sock on his dick. I would imagine the guy's got a lot of humility and respect and ability to play the parts that need playing the way they should be played.

I know what you mean, and Ive seen him with the Chilli Peppers, and he's a phenomenon, but the Faces need a bassist with the right feel, and Flea is a gymnast.
Why not get a bass that can add to the deal, rather than just replicate a museum piece?
And besides, Flea is a cleaned-up fitness freak............The Faces?

Hey, Flea's cleaned up... Stewart and Wood are washed up... I'm sure they could find some common ground there somewhere.

I think I know what you mean but that worked out OK. I didn't notice him overplaying. Although I think Iggy did a couple times. More than one Mike Watt sideman has told the tale of Iggy yanking a cigarette right out his mouth and trampling on it after Watt missed the turnaround in Dirt at the Long Beach ATP. We like telling it to each other.

Besides Stay With Me will sound totally great with a slap-bass.

It's the equivalent of Pino Palladino playing with The Who.
Utterly ridiculous.
The world was holding its breath waiting for me to post that, obviously......

Nah, Watt was great for the Stooges. In a way it was like he was a reflection of the audiences anticipation and release, just look at him quivering and jolting about, puffing his cheeks out. The guy is pure soul and feel and his tour diaries are a treat to read. Iggy was definatlely a git to not let him wear his checked shirts.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm??? Not impressed. I mean, he's great at playing bass with the Chili's........but.......surely Glen Matlock, who has already practically begged Wood for the job, is far more suitable and Plonk-like??? Thats who i'd choose. Fine bass player and a good songwriter too.

Ho hum, i'm still very interested in this but choice of bass player does seem a little strange :?
