Lose to Newcastle

Lose to Wigan

Lose to Charlton

Does anyone see a pattern here that is eluding Mr Pardew at the moment?

I can take the loss to Wigan but we could and sould have skinned the Barcodes and the Addicks.

Someone who can put the ball in the net would help. Haywood must be the Anti-Hurst. He gets a lot right then shoots into the stars rather than the net.

We'd better beat Everton next time we see them.

Comment of the season by Chris Coleman, after Gary O'Neill had scored another goal aided by a blatant handball for Pompey (the home team) against Fulham last Saturday. The referee was, you've guessed it, Mike Riley.

"We saw it from 60 yards away" said Coleman " but to be fair to Mike Riley, if he missed Milan Baros's handball against Everton, he's not going to spot this one".

Tou and bloody che!

I notice that, after a whole two victories in three days, no one else is visiting this thread.

Two in a row is your best series of results this season isnt it?
Still, Millwall in the cup should be a doddle...........

An away win at Portsmouth - excellent. Our third league win in a row - the first time we've done that since September 2004, I'm told.

Is this the return of the Everton of last season? They scrapped a few 1-0s then, didn't they. I think they've turned the corner, Pete. It won't be a trophy-laden season but I don't think you'll be in a relegation scrap unless you're blighted by injuries during the second half of the season. Your squad is a bit shallow. I bet you're glad of Tim Cahill. I'd love to have him at West Ham.

Meanwhile, in Birmingham the chickens are coming home to roost for 'Mr Loyalty' Bruce. Beaten at home by a weakly underperforming Charlton team is not the route out of danger.

I've seen too many false dawns to think we're out of the problem area yet Neil - but it's looking better, if not spectacular.

I think Brum are massive underachievers - they've got some talent there, but can't win an argument at the moment. and Bruce is beginning to sound defeated to me. A bad sign for them.

If I were a Middlesbrough fan, I'd be really concerned. They are in freefall at the moment, and 7-0 drubbings take some getting over. A couple more bad weeks and they are right in amongst it - and I'm not sure the players will relish it. I'm convinced McLaren won't - he's lucky he has a loyal chairman, I think.

Boro's chairman is more loyal than most but he has shown with Robson that he can be brutal when he has to. Imagine being manager and having another manager, Venables, brought in to rescue the club while you are still on the payroll out of respect. He knifes you but embarrasses you first.

If I were Boro chairman I would be looking at acres of empty seats, looking at the manager, the empty seats, the manager, the empty seats...

I wouldn't be looking at what's going on on the pitch. It would be too painful.

Moyes has got something about him that McLaren hasn't. Bruce's weaknesses as a manager have never been exposed because he never stayed anywhere long enough...until now.

Simon Jordan must be laughing long and hard into his cornflakes every morning.

Well a draw against Chelsea isn't to be sniffed at. I think the chances of getting much out of the replay are fairly minimal though - but the team are playing well at the moment, so there's always hope.

As an aside, did anyone see the two blatant handballs from free kicks yesterday that should have both been penalties? Shame Graham Fucking Poll didn't - wanker.

I know I am a long way away and I know I'm a useless tool when it comes to predictions in the Prem or the Cup but Everton could have had this game. I was so upset to see them withdraw into their own half when they were one up and The Mowers were there for the taking.

Moyes got it wrong. A second goal would have done it but he made the common mistake; get one and then build a wall. Chelsea love that.

You won't get the replay, Pete.

Where's that buttwipe Grollope when you need him most? Another 1-0 thrashing of City - ironically the goalscorer was 'old man Weir' (as Grollope was calling him only a month or so ago). Notice how well we've been playing since Yobo (according to Grollope, our best player) has been away on international duty? Notice how Grollope has barely visited the site since Everton started their unbeaten run (ie- 2006)?

Notice how Yobo missed the first penalty in the AFC QF this afternoon?

Good run Pete, that and others going into freefall may have saved you.

Moyes named manager of the month

Everton's David Moyes has been named Barclays Premiership manager of the month for January.
Moyes' side were unbeaten in January, a sequence that stretched to nine games before they were beaten 4-1 by Chelsea in an FA Cup fourth round replay.

Everton have recovered from a dismal start to the season to rise to 12th place in the Premiership.

And Moyes is hoping Everton's recent resurgence can lead to a late charge for a place in the Uefa Cup.

Great minds, and all that..............
