Anyone playing out?

It still pains me to acknowledge that the largest Bluegrass festival is celebrated in California.

God bless Ralph Stanley's heart. The man is still playing. I'm going to be crushed when he can't play out anymore. I miss seeing him, a lot.

I'd love to come out there. It's during my fall break, so I can be on the definitely maybe list, if I get some extra cash in...

I've stopped saying I'm going to go because I still haven't made it after all these years. It could happen but I wouldn't plan on seeing me there as much as I love the music.

I'm going to see the Flaming Lips on Oct. 1st, but will try for 10/2 or 3rd based on the line up. It looks like Sharon Jones is playing?

Oh, and in case it wasn't obvious:

1) Minnie
2) Hatz

Pillowz is a maybe- schedule permitting, as they say.

What would it take to get you "all in?" I'm willing to do my part.

My suspicion is this one will be the best yet (although conversely, probably even more crowded than '08, which was beyond ridiculous. Adding a stage last year helped a bit.)

I want the setlist and days now! Too impatient, that's my trouble.

I'm camping out for Patti.

Possibly in for the festival. Most definitely in for some activity around that weekend. If anybody is planning on swinging South Bay-ish, E and I are always excited to showcase our lovely area...

Well. . . I would be up for it as it's a shorter drive from me to Fremont to the south bay. My recommendation, would that we meet up at Castro St. in Mountain View or in Palo Alto, kinda in the middle.

Ya gotta give Anna props. She's been to two of these. Last year it was two days of roots music which was one more than the year before.

Of course, last year was Billy Bragg and Robyn Hitchcock so that helped, I'm sure. Mavis Staples was pretty damn good but I don't know if she stuck around for her.

Yeah, I can't take credit or blame for that! I haven't even begun to start in with forcing proper music on her.

I'm a strong possibility for this, by the way. We'll see.

Here's some proper pop-bluegrass (and a nasty little number) from my hero, Jimmy Martin:

From Facebook, looks like they're announcing the schedule tomorrow, or at least the headliners.

It'll be interesting to see what day she plays and what stage.

Here's updated list of acts---final now according to HSB. Some interesting additions like Jonathan Richman, Randy Newman, Sharon Jones, and Fountains of Wayne. I'd like to catch Patti Griffin, if I go.

The Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald band might be interesting.

I read a review from the past couple years. For a festival this size, it's hard to believe they didn't have one arrest last year.

Jerry Jeff Walker, Yonder Mountain String Band, Elvis Costello and the Sugarcanes, Holly Golighty and the Brokeoffs, Emmylou Harris, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Kevin Welch, Kieran Kane & Fats Kaplin, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, The Flatlanders featuring Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore & Butch Hancock, Martin Sexton, Robert Earl Keen, Carolyn Wonderland, Keller & the Keels, Jenny & Johnny featuring Jenny Lewis & Johnathan Rice, Jonathan Richman, Gillian Welch, Randy Newman, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Buddy Miller, Lucero, Railroad Earth, David Olney & Sergio Webb, Kelly Willis, the subdudes, Laurie Lewis & the Right Hands, Jackie Greene, Mondo Cane, T Bone Burnett and Friends, Indigo Girls, David Grisman Quintet, James McMurtry, Rosanne Cash, Umphrey's McGee, Dave Alvin & the Guilty Women, Fountains of Wayne, Wendy Bird, Skip Gorman, Kinky Friedman, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, The Ebony Hillbillies, Jon Langford, Patty Griffin, Moonalice, Joan Baez, The Band of Heathens, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The Wronglers, Nick Lowe, Patti Smith, Hot Tuna Electric, Evie Ladin, Justin Townes Earle, Earl Scruggs, Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys, Steve Earle and the Dukes, The Felice Brothers, Doc Watson & David Holt, Hazel Dickens, Margot Leverett and the Klezmer Mountain Boys, The Del McCoury Band, The Dukes of September Rhythm Revue featuring Donald Fagen, Michael McDonald & Boz Scaggs, Blue Highway, Anderson Family Bluegrass, The Magnolia Sisters, Peter Himmelman, The Avett Brothers, Citigrass, Nathaniel Rateliff, Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band, Bonnie Prince Billy & the Cairo Gang, Richard Thompson
