Monday or Tuesday evening would be better for me.

Ugh, it looks like those aren't great for me ... how bad are they for you, R? More of a preference, or an impossibility? :D

Preference.

Sunday or Wednesday? :D

Now, the hard part: where?

I am fine to travel outside of Manhattan, or we can do it here somewhere. Someplace with character. I'll look for ideas, but am open to whatever you want/wherever you usually go.

See what you can come up with! I would stick to Manhattan, as Brooklyn is a little too long a trip for me, since I won't be driving.

Some thoughts, in a British Isles vein ...

McSorley’s Old Ale House
15 E. 7th St., near Third Ave.

Caledonia Bar
1609 2nd Ave.

Swift Hibernian Lounge
34 E. 4th St., near Bowery

That's my natural tendency, because usually you can sit comfortably and talk for a while at places like that. I'll think about other vibes too, though. We have time ...

McSorley's might be a little touristy (not that I've been for many many years!). I would lean to Swift Hibernian because of the location, though the whisky selection of Caledonia is tempting too! Either of those is fine.

Do you know about what time you'd like to meet up? Maybe late afternoon?

Didn't McSorley's shut down recently? Or am I thinking of another place?

That sounds nice to me. I'm open.

GMT Tavern could also be nice!

I agree stay away from MCSorley - very noisy

Other two are good. Late afternoon works for me - plan to get some shopping done beforehand.

This weekend actually free'd up for me so I'm good, if Rita and others can only do early next week that still works for me too - oops I didn't notice all the other replies in this thread for some reason.

Yes, Sunday works! Let's skip McSorleys...

Q!

I'm at GMT at the moment, as it happens. :D It's alright, a bit touristy. I might lean toward somewhere else, but it's a fine place to congregate.

Ha, I'd never even heard of GMT, might have to try it when I'm pining for a British ale!

I think there have been a couple of Jollies at the Ginger Man, it's a bit zoo-like at peak hours but it might be good on a Sunday, pretty extensive beer selection (though also a little touristy). If there is a certain location that works best for everyone we can hone in from there?

We used to do Manitoba's a lot, but given recent allegations about him I'd rather avoid it these days (http://www.brooklynvegan.com/handsome-d ... c-assault/ EDIT - this was the verdict http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc ... -1.3969816)

The Q's have been to Manitoba's (if memory serves, they weren't overly impressed!). Me, I always liked it, but I gravitate to dives.

The Ginger Man was okay, but nothing special. I don't think on a Sunday afternoon, we have to worry about crowds much anywhere.

All sound fine to me! Would one of you be so kind as to choose? Caledonia, Hibernian, ... ?

I think the Swift Hibernian is a good fit. The back room looks comfy.

4 or 5?
