I see. That place where the days are longer....

Well, I can see it’s quite a journey from Ventura to Anaheim. I wouldn’t drive that far to meet me either.

(But you'll be driving past Ventura while coming down PCH, right?)

Yes, but that day is packed, we are driving back UP the PCH from San Luis Obispo to Hearst Castle and Pt Piedras Blancas (seals) because the PCH is closed higher up, then it’s 3hrs 45mins driving down to Santa Monica. We won’t have time to do any more than wave in the general direction of Muskrat and Hatz.

Not completely official yet, but it does appear that I WILL be doing my usual Saturday night gig in Burbank on the 7th, so chances are that will preclude me from making it to Anaheim. With Muskrat out for that night as well, perhaps we should aim for drinks in Santa Monica on Friday the 6th? As of now, that should work out well for me (Thursday the 5th possible, but Friday would be easier).

Hi Hatz, I understand it’s a long way for you to Anaheim and you have other plans for the Saturday. I may well be busy with the family on the evenings of Thursday 5th and Friday 6th. I know we are planning on driving Mulholland one evening... plus there will be other stuff to see, meals to be eaten etc. Nothing is certain at this stage, if we do Mulholland on the Thursday I may be free on the Friday evening in Santa Monica, but the thing is that on Saturday 7th, after dropping the family at Disneyland mid morning-ish, I will be in Anaheim by myself at a completely loose end for the entire day...hence my shout out for company on that day.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about the Beenieman experience was that we had to go to some place that was next to Disneyland because of time/distance constraints, so it was a generic mega-eatery filled with Disneyland families. Do you have the whole day free? It might be nice to go somewhere better, and maybe get some record shopping in as well?

The Olde Ship in Fullerton -- possibly boring as hell for you, but it's a place I like, especially in the afternoon.

There are quite a few record stores in the vicinity too...

The Olde Ship looks fine... I won’t have had a pie for two weeks and will be desperate for pastry.

They do a sticky toffee pudding that I always get even though it's intense.

Sadly, I suspect Saturday will be out for me, unless I can figure out a way to meet you guys in the morning and make it back by late afternoon. If there's any way to manage it, I will.

That's too bad. It hadn't occurred to me, but we could meet for lunch or something -- but I have to leave no later than 6 (to allow for traffic en route to Santa Monica). Let me know if you change your mind. Maybe Htz could even join us -- or, if it's later in the afternoon, we could join him.

By the way, Michael, it's "PCH", not "the PCH"!

I’d avoided correcting that and his assumption that he could leave Santa Monica and be in Anaheim in an hour.

Correction noted.

Whenever I look on Google Maps, Santa Monica to Anaheim isn’t much more than an hour.... How long would you expect it to take leaving 9am to 9.30am on Saturday 7 April?

I reckon on reaching the pub in Fullerton is Disneyland by the time the pub opens at 11am, assuming that’s a sensible meeting place. Jim - Please advise. Probably makes more sense than my hotel, which I can’t check into until 4pm.

Sounds like a perfect meeting place. Saturday morning will indeed be less traffic-laden than rush hour/"drive time". Two hours is possible, though it could be a bit more. There is also the time it will take to make sure the rest of the family is squared away at Disneyland and so on. But not to worry, I'lll expect a possible delay.

I’d assume a 90 minute drive at a minimum and hope to be pleasantly surprised if it were less. Then there’s actually getting into Disneyland which can be quite backed up at times.

I’m hoping to join you in Anaheim but I’m not sure of my schedule yet. I’ll check in as it becomes clearer.

This is making me sad. I'm not seeing a way I can join you and be certain to make it back in time for my gig in Burbank. :(

If there's any way in hell, I'll be there. But I'm not seeing it.

Hmm. My notes for today’s drive from SF to Monterey said about 2 hours. That was a massive under estimate, partly because speed limits are so low and partly because we took a much more scenic route than was really necessary (sat nav trouble). It must have taken us at least 4 hours. But some great views supported by my epic Spotify playlist, which none of the family appreciated.
