London Sept 16th - a proper Jolly....

Postby Diamond Dog » 21 Aug 2017, 18:21

The Slider on FB :

So this extra-ordinary post Summer Jolly Up is happening then.
Sat Sept 16th at the Volunteer in Baker Street (though I don't know if that's necessarily set in stone as a venue).
Doyens and invited guests only. (joking)

I think this is already too many people to have a comfy Jolly at the Volunteer.

We could do our usual and rearrange for the Blue Posts.
Or just around from the Volunteer - next door to Baker St station - is the Metropolitan bar. It's a Wetherspoons and although busy, could more than accommodate us.

Or we could do the old Kings Arms

Or any other suggestions?

My choice would be Blue Posts first, The Metropolitan second and Kings Arms a distant third.

It's rarely busy and we know what to expect (as you say) and pretty easy to get to.

I'd be happy with the 'Posts too. Just as easy to get to.

I hate The Blue Posts. Just sayin'' like. It's dingy, the coke is horrid, there's no food. If we go there, I may have to turn to drink.

I do slightly agree with you, Mike
But there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Their own brand cola is not nice, though.
Have a fizzy water instead?

You've tried their cola? I'm shocked.

I'm going back to Facebook. The pleasing prospect of it being held anywhere other than The Blue Posts seemed higher over there.

If Mike really doesn't want the Blue Posts then I'm happy with somewhere else. The only place I'd really object to is The Kings Arms, because they treated us like shit really.
