Was there an upper floor in the old location? This one does seem to have a small balcony that a few people could stand on. Maybe not more than six though.

There was a staircase leading up to a sitting area, big enough for a couch and a few chairs. It was pretty small compared to the downstairs area, maybe 6-8 people could fit comfortably. Did they remove the staircase too, like The Roxy did? I'm curious now, gotta go check it out next time I'm in the area.

What was previously in the C&F's new location? Whatever it was, it sounds like you remember it pretty well, as there is indeed a small upper floor where about six people could hang out.

I still don't know what is going to occupy the old C&F space on Sunset.

It was a coffeehouse / performance space called Highland Grounds in the '90s. I went there often, did a few gigs of my own too. It had no stage, the performers would just set up on the floor near the front entrance.

Some time in the early aughts, they moved the stage to the back of the room, which was a lot more sensible. It was a nice place to play for free. :D
