Can't make it, I'm afraid. Already committed to an adoption celebration.

Fuck me, the Toxic Twins even made it over here.

Is there no part of the internet they will not troll (yes, troll not trawl) in their endless quest to stir the shit?

Sadly it looks like I'm unable to attend.

My mum has been in hospital for three weeks, with some pretty severe complications after being knocked over (in a car park, incredibly) and I can't see that I'm going to be able to go drinking in London as things presently stand.

If it changes I'll be coming but I very much doubt that currently.

Woah. Sorry to hear this and hope she's feeling better soon.

Thanks Anna - it's been difficult. 78 years old - renal failure, heart failure, sepsis (all likely caused by the trauma of the accident)..... you name it, she's had it. To the point where on Tuesday this week my five brothers & sisters and I agreed with the surgeon and consultant that we would not resuscitate..... given a pretty definite limit of three weeks.... she's a tough old girl is Joanie though and is still hanging around and improving. The surgeon actually called it a miracle, should such things exist. However, it's a long, long road ahead and we;re certainly not counting chickens yet.

Just to add to the fun, the driver was uninsured. And, whilst the ambulance guys were trying to assess my mum laying in the car park, he was on his mobile trying to arrange insurance... that kind of chap.

By the way everyone - thanks for the pm's etc (here and on FB) but can you please not publish this on FB (in any way). Pm, yes, no worries.

I have a very large family and we try to disseminate news to children, nephews, nieces etc in person if possible. Finding out things on FB isn't a particularly nice way to do so.

Not that anyone has - or would. Just a request.

And, again, thank you.
