It looks like it might be another summer with no out-of-towners to give us an excuse for a Jolly Up. Anyone up for a get together while the weather is nice? Because you know how inclement it can get around here. Either L.A. or Ventura is okay by me. Anyone else?

LA or Ventura or anywhere in between, I'm in. I have my pub gig most Saturdays, but other than that, I'll make it work if at all possible.

If LA, West Valley's best for me, and either me or Muskrat can makes suggestions for our area.

Some time in August, maybe?

I know I have a gig on Saturday August 15 but other than that I'm free at this point. We might end up with another gig but not as yet.

I start teaching again on the seventeenth; anytime before then.

I'm getting another hand surgery next week. Won't be making any plans for anything for a while. You krazy kidz go out and have a good time for me, alrighty? Hey, I'm feeling generous - here's the keys to the car. Just be home by midnight, and don't make me have to bail you out like last time. (The boys down at the station are still chuckling over that one, so I guess it worked out okay. But still...)

Build it and they will come.

This weekend's definitely out for me. Next weekend, maybe. The weekend after would be better. I think.

Typical Americans. Just imagine when we get to paying the bill...

I may be in L.A. this coming Saturday (August 1) for a thing in Hollywood at 5. Also in L.A. for the Rain Parade/Baby Lemonade show at 8. Both would be good for me down there. The rest of the month is clear, but I'd rather stay here or Camarillo (chez Hatz/Pillows) for one of those.

In other words: I don't know -- you guys work it out.

I can't do it Aug. 1, but Sun., Aug. 2 is good. Or the next weekend (Aug. 8 or 9).

8th or 9th is better for me than the 2nd. But even a weeknight is acceptable.

Okay, so I'm going to see Dwight Yoakam and X (for free!) on the 8th, I have a rehearsal on Sunday the 9th, and a gig on the Saturday 15th. So best for me on the 16th. Does that work for anyone?

And the big question is, of course - Who is willing to drive and how far? Can we get that settled first?

Apparently it's a busy summer.

BTW - I'm happy to stay here in L.A. but don't really have a problem with a drive up the coast. What about y'all?

While my preference is, of course, to go around the corner (and actually, there are some good spots in Camarillo should anyone actually want to do that), I'm fine with wherever. Though I suspect the best compromise is the West Valley. That spot we went to in Woodland Hills worked pretty well, right? If not, there are other places we could try as well.

Some pub type place on Ventura near Topanga Canyon Blvd? I vaguely remember it. Maybe not that far west?

I'm thinking it was this one but I might be wrong. There are others in the area. You and Quaco seem to be good with anywhere, so the trick is meeting my needs as well as those of Matt Wilson and Muskrat. And finding an interesting place for Goldwax to not come to.

Bobzilla lives in Burbank, so maybe he could make a WVJU too.

There were two different places on Ventura - that was one (though the link points to the one in Santa Monica, there is one in Studio City), the other was in Woodland Hills.

Not swearing I wouldn't go to Sherman Oaks, but it's not my preference.

The 16th? I start school the next day... That's fine and all but I wanna party NOW! I could do tonight, tomorrow night, this weekend... Jeez, it's hard getting everyone's schedules settled.
