JUOTA 2015 Chicago May 22nd-25th

Postby Corporate whore » 01 Sep 2014, 07:20

So it's September, when we usually call the JUOTA. Consensus on the 2014 thread seems to be for Chicago, Why am I calling it? Well it's also our 25th wedding anniversary and we would both like to spend it with out BCB bessies;

so... Who's in?

I was pricing hotel rooms the other day for Thursday through Monday. I'm going to put myself (and guest) on the highly probable list for the moment.

That is the beginning of UK half term. I think my wife has mates in Chicago, so I may feasibly be able to swing it. What location would be suitable to stay in - city centre?

Put me on the "slightly possible" list

Last time we mostly stayed in the Lakeview area (Days Inn) which was a pretty nice location. I'm open if people want to change things up, though I would definitely be happy going back there.

As a location it worked for me, and there was that fab Mexican diner next door for breakfast....

I was winding Griff, Yomp & Fish about this yesterday.

Fab Mexican food in Chicago? Allow me my skepticism.

Is it safe to assume The Artist Formerly Known as Phenomenal Cat and JSJ are a go for this?

And can anyone get in touch with Mr. Cowgill? It'd be great to see him too.

It's all comparative; compared with Mexican food in England, yes.

I think a lot of the Mexican food in Chicago is from central and south Mexico, so probably quite different from what you get in California. One shouldn't be so skeptical. ;)

Yeah, I gather there's a really big Mexican community there.

As for us, it's not likely, given other travel commitments, but May is a long way away, so you never know ...

My wife is now off to a wedding in Kansas two weeks earlier, so I am out.

Hell, I haven't been on BCB all that much lately, But I can't miss this!

I live a 30 minute drive from downtown Chicago. About the same if I take the South Shore Train from Hammond or East Chicago.

I'm DEFINITELY in!
