JSJ in NYC Friday, March 21
JSJ in NYC Friday, March 21
Granted, I'm in that morning and out the next morning, but...if anyone wants to come have a drink with me at the gig, let me know. If there is some concern that this is irrelevant to the JU section of the board, you may always delete.

Wait a minute. You're Plush? Mr. Three-Quarters Blind Eyes?
["Minnie the Stalker"]The first time that we met I knew I was going to make him mine.

That song is absolutely in the act at my insistence, but...no, I am bass/harmony vocals. Liam Hayes writes 'em and sings 'em.

I've always been a fan so I'll get tickets AND we can have a JU drink or three.

That sounds delightful!
Let me check with the manager about guest list this morning.

Don't worry about it. The Mercury Lounge is a good club and I'm more than happy to support the music.

Yeah, I've never been/played there, but the feedback I'm generally getting is that the venue is incredible!

Hayes is often compared with artists such as Jimmy Webb, Brian Wilson, Laura Nyro, Burt Bacharach and Harry Nilsson.
As in "He's good, but he's no Jimmy Webb, Brian Wilson, Laura Nyro, Burt Bacharach or Harry Nilsson"?
Have a good gig -- I'd be there if I were, you know, there and not here.

I don't know that I'd say it's incredible, but it's a good venue and has been for more than 20-years. The club is in back, you enter through the narrow bar up front. It's a square space, probably about 30' x 30'. The sound system has always been very good; simple, but clear.
The Mercury was the first club opened by the people who now run The Bowery Ballroom, The Music Hall of Williamsburg, Terminal 5, and promote shows at Webster Hall and Radio City Music Hall. They're pretty well-run venues, although some people within the scene have negative feelings about them.

I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to make it, but break a leg!
(My friend actually literally broke a leg there, on stage, doing some kind of ill-advised jump off an amp while playing guitar. Gig came to a screeching halt; he wound up in the hospital.)

JSJ, I don't know if you'll check-in here today...
Plush is the early show tonight (a good thing in my book) so it will be over by 10:00 or so. We'll probably be there near the 7:30 start time.
Since we've never met it may be difficult to hook-up in the dark back room, but if you want to scout us out --- I'm a big guy who is occasionally mistaken for Michael Moore, and in her younger days my wife used to be mistaken for Natalie Merchant. If an early rendezvous doesn't materialize I'll track you down after the show... I doubt if dressing room security is too heavy at the Merc.
I don't know if you'll have equipment responsibilities after the show. If post-gig plans materialize within your circle maybe we can horn in. I'm not sure where to suggest for drinks in that neighborhood. 2A is good and has an upstairs. That's just a block north of the Mercury Lounge and may not be too crowded at 10:30 (even on a Friday night). There are lots of bars in the Ludlow Street area and Manitoba's isn't too far from the Merc... 6 or 7 blocks.

That SUCKS
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Don't worry, John did that for years (before he was married).

I've hooked up with Guy in the past and it's well worth the effort.

I can't believe I set such easy traps.
