Edinburgh Summer Jolly-Up : Non-Locals Welcome!
It's been ages since we last had a major Edinburgh jolly-up with actual people from other countries and that (about seven years now?), so who's up for one this summer? June/July would probably be the best time, guaranteeing at least a 4% chance of some decent weather, and gives the non-locals a good chance of getting somewhere to stay before the festival comes to town. And for those of you living in England, this could well be your last chance to attend before we seal off the border in September and start putting watchtowers and slavering alsatians on every road between Carlisle and Berwick.
So whadda ya say? Who's up for it?

August is so hugely more expensive and difficult for travel and hotels. It's the worst month to hold something in Edinburgh that is reasonably accessible to all budgets.

I assume when you fell asleep in the Cumberland Bar last year you conveniently forgot about the several hours that preceded it, then?

Sorry to derail your thread Lee. We'll be in the UK in late July / early August, dates as yet unknown and Baron has never seen Scotland, and it's something we really should do and it would be lovely to see you all. That might have nothing to do with the JU mind, but it would be a hoot if the two things could have somehow merged like some kind of dreamy happy coincidence.

I spent most of the several hours beforehand talking to you. If only....
Belle Lettre wrote:We could have two!
That could also work
Although if you two find yourselves in Scotland before the start of August, we could have the jolly before it all starts getting properly mental in Edinburgh. Not that I'm objecting to two jolly-ups, of course...

I'm pretty flexible. August is slightly more tricky, with costs and school holidays. But I didn't realise it was the only time Minnie and Baron could make it. Duh!
I'll come if I can. And make every effort. I usually go up sometime over the summer anyway.

These things always work better if there are some "guest" visitors anyway, so a meet-up if Baron & Minnie are heading up this way would be champion - if this works for everyone else, so much the better; if not, let's do multiples. I have PLENTY of blank CD-Rs with which to inflict pre-recorded pain on everyone...

Shotts is lovely in the summer, and I hear the rates at the Prison Inn are pretty reasonable.
