Sleater Kinney- Dig Me Out 7
Beck- Midnight Vultures 4
Seam- The Problem with Me 2
Guided by Voices- Isolation Drills 1

Nice work, there. The Sleater Kinney vote got split.
Wrong Swervedriver record, though!

I should say thanks for all the kind words and thanks to everyone who voted and discussed it all. It's been quite good fun compiling it, especially when I realised I could, godlike, toy with you all as you frantically tried to second-guess what albums would place where.
Sent me off to re/investigate a load of stuff too, which is always fun.

What do you reckon, people: do people who didn't actually vote themselves have any right to criticise the final list?

;)

Thanks Penk. As others have suggested, this sets a new standard.

If that were true, BCB would've died a quick death long ago.

This was mine, all 5 points each as I'm lazy and didn't strategize. Looks like The Strands vote got split for Shack too. I'm surprised that Dylan, Rustin Man, and Dirty Three didn't get a place.

You Am I - 'Hi Fi Way'
Michael Head & The Strands 'The Magical World of ...'
My Bloody Valentine 'Loveless'
Bob Dylan 'Tell Tale SIgns: Bootleg Series Vol 8'
Talk Talk 'Laughing Stock'
Crowded House 'Together Alone'
The Flaming Lips 'The Soft Bulletin'

The Dirty Three 'Horse Stories'
Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man 'Out of Season'
Life Without Buildings 'Any Other City'
Boards of Canada 'Music Has the Right to Children'

My Morning Jacket 'At Dawn'
Spencer P. Jones 'Rumour of Death'
Wilco 'A Ghost is Born'
Bill Callahan 'Sometimes I Wish I Were An Eagle
Caribou 'Andorra'
The Drones 'Gala Mill'
Tex, Don & Charlie 'Sad But True'
Neutral Milk Hotel 'In the Aeroplane Over the Sea'
Rowland S. Howard 'Teenage Snuff Film'

Great work indeed, Penk, beautifully organised and executed.

Here was my list, each with a boring 5 points - as always though, i reckon only about half would be still there next week or next mood...

Teenage Fanclub – Bandwagonesque
Ed Kuepper – Honey Steel’s Gold
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
The Church – Untitled #23
Teenage Fanclub – Grand Prix
The Go-Betweens – Oceans Apart
Wilco – Being There
Nas – Illmatic
Gang Starr – Step In The Arena
The Aints – Autocannibalism
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – The Good Son
The Black Crowes - The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
The Jayhawks – Tomorrow The Green Grass
Cassandra Wilson – New Moon Daughter
Drive-By Truckers – Southern Rock Opera
Sleater-Kinney – Call The Doctor
Guitar Wolf – Planet of The Wolves
Cardinal – Cardinal
Prince – Love Symbol
Lucinda Williams – Car Wheels On A Gravel Road

We should've consulted each other on this. It's a crime that Sleater-Kinney didn't make it in the top 100. Baron, can we all agree on a Sleater-Kinney record so this injustice will not be repeated?

Nice list, btw, Ange. Love the Lucinda choice.

I chose One Beat. I think it just takes The Hot Rock, and though I love The Woods, it's a bit rich.
I couldn't find my copy of All Hands on the Bad One.

I could probably get behind that one- I love Corin's voice on Sympathy, though The Hot Rock might be a compromise as its #2 for me. The Woods is also a really strong record. You know my daughter's name is Corinne. My wife will tell you we named her after her aunt, but I've got me reasons too.

And Ed Kuepper's 'Honey Steels Gold' almost made mine! For those who don't know it, Chris Abrahams from The Necks plays piano on the LP, it's a pearler.

'Autocannibalism' is an interesting choice, a very underrated record that...

I could just as easily have put in The Hot Rock or Dig Me Out, which i guess is the sweet pain of any exercise of this kind.

But you're right, this kind of travesty should not happen again. It may not be in the true spirit of the list, but we'll let the losers and The Strokes-voters scratch their heads about that later.

Leg of lamb wrote:Mine:

1. Massive Attack - Blue Lines
2. Outkast - Aquemini
3. Super Chron Flight Brothers - Emergency Powers
4. Wu Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers
5. Buju Banton - 'Til Shiloh
6. Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
7. Fever Ray - Fever Ray
8. Queens of the Stone Age - R
9. At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command
10. The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
11. Roots Manuva - Run Come Save Me
12. Dizzee Rascal - Boy in Da Corner
13. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
14. The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
15. Jay-Z - The Blueprint
16. Nas - Illmatic
17. Aesop Rock - Labor Days
18. Nirvana - In Utero
19. MIA - Kala
20. Badly Drawn Boy - Hour of Bewilderbeast

Perhaps very roughly in order... though, as you can see, there are patterns, like how I listed all my British 'urban' music in one lump. They're in the order they occurred to me, at least, which is a bit instructive. The top 3's about right.

Thanks, Ed. Cracking list, I think. My only disappointments are that Super Chron didn't tickle the lower reaches, at least; that (as previously stated) the board massively dropped the ball with wrong Outkast and no At the Drive-In; and I thought LCD might figure. The rest I can chalk up to taste :)

Looks like you and I were the only ones who had LCD Soundsystem, At the Drive-In and the Blueprint in their top 20! That's some crazy coincidence going on.

Anyway, here's mine:

Here's mine:

10 points
MASSIVE ATTACK-Blue Lines
7 points
JAY-Z- The Blueprint
A TRIBE CALLED QUEST- The Low End Theory
OUTKAST- STANKONIA
THE WU-TANG CLAN- Enter the Wu-Tang Clan (36 Chambers)
DJ SHADOW- Entroducing
DIMMER- I Believe You Are A Star
5 points
PHOENIX FOUNDATION- Pegasus
SLEATER-KINNEY- The Woods
THE GO! TEAM- Thunder, Lightning, Strike!
4 points
TV ON THE RADIO- Dear Science
DAFT PUNK- Homework
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM- Sound of Silver
3 points
TEENAGE FANCLUB- Bandwaggonesque
SJD- Lost Soul Music
THE ORB- UFOrb
MGMT- Oracular Spectacular
THE FLAMING LIPS- The Soft Bulletin
V/A- Ghetto Arc Presents: These Are Some Serious Times
AT THE DRIVE-IN- Relationship of Command

Another 27, in no particular order, which I considered, and there's almost certainly another bunch I've forgotten from the others.

BECK- Odelay
THE HOLD STEADY- Separation Sunday
FOUR TET- Rounds
NAS- Illmatic
ELLIOTT SMITH- XO
GHOSTFACE KILLAH- Ironman
SHIHAD- Killjoy
THE SHINS- Chutes Too Narrow
MISSY ELLIOTT- Respect M.E.*
THE PHOENIX FOUNDATION- Happy Ending
JOANNA NEWSOM- The Milk-Eyed Mender
GZA- Liquid Swords
SKINNYMAN- Council Estate of Mind
OUTKAST- Aquemini
SUPER FURRY ANIMALS- Fuzzy Logic
REM- Automatic For the People
BJORK- Debut
TRICKY- Maxinquaye
CHE FU- 2BSPacific
THE LEMONHEADS- It's A Shame About Ray.
CAT POWER- The Greatest
NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS- Dig, Lazarus, Dig!
UNDERWORLD- Dubnobasswithmyheadman
STEREOLAB- Emperor Tomato Ketchup
QOTSA- Rated R
STREET CHANT- Means
RILO KILEY- Under the Blacklight**

...And I'm sure I could think of another 50 after these, some of which were in the final BCB 100, as frankly, there's very little between a whole lot of them.

Great work, Penk. It was a lot of fun, although imagine the uproar, if say, Q or Mojo came up with a top 100 list like this. Shows we're not so different from them after all!

*Yes, I know it's a best-of, but she needed to be there, somewhere.
**look, I know it's not necessarily great, but for my sins, I've played it more than a lot of records I supposedly rate. That's gotta count for something.

All the half dozen or so Sleater-Kinney voters should've arranged a premeeting to decide on a consensus vote beforehand. Only then would we've been able to put them in their rightful place at the top. :)
