This is clear cut. A has wandered too deeply into 70s proggy folky waters for me; it was fine at the start, leavened as it was with other flavours, but a Shuggie Otis thrown in at the end is not enough. B doesn’t always land it’s punches but it’s by far the most interesting, eclectic and groovy list. It should win for Marsha Hunt alone but there’s a pleasing light and shade throughout.

Convincingly,

B

I'm rather happy that two of my favourite lists made it to the final.

I'll vote for A because it has more scope than B - I really like its folky streak.

I really want to be nicer here. I have no desire to fold my arms and act above it all. But clearly my tastes and BCB’s tastes have drifted even further away than ever.

I liked both of the lists dispatched in the last round more than these two. Not that both of our finalists aren’t both pretty sure hands (you have to be to get this far) - but clearly I’m not in either of their target audiences.

Anyhow...I’ve listened to both lists over the last few days and I’ll go with B.

Nice to see the great Jorge Ben in both lists. Maybe if A’s last three had a different Timi Yuro pick… I dunno. The Shuggie Otis is fab but so is B’s Joe Harriott, which has the added appeal of being new to me. I think

B

wins it for the Marsha Hunt and Nino Ferrer picks. Yes, it’s the more congenial to me of the two lists.

This completes the voting from the Further Spanish jury for another Cup.

VOTING CLOSED.

I make this A: 8 B: 13. Was very close until a run of votes on page two saw B pull away.

A was Mike Boom, B rather embarrassingly was me. Is the organisor allowed to win? :?
Unlucky Gary, I thought they were great additions and one of your best BCB cup lists to date. Thanks to the three or so who actually liked my list, for the rest of you I can only apologise!

I once again didn't get around to voting, but I was planning on voting for B anyway. Congrats, G! I didn't like it all, but a few tracks really shined (USA and Dorsey, particularly - I need that Dorsey album!) There were other eliminated lists I would've voted for over yours, but not a lot of them.

Congrats, G, I knew that was your list from day one. Indeed, I'm still suspicious that you gave yourself an easy start :-)

Yeah it's very good. I must get round to a Nino Ferrer thread on YY, I've been meaning to do one for a while.
