I like three of one of the lists, and two of the other.

Kind of why I don;t do the BCB Cup anymore..

A puts in some nice additions with the Derrick Morgan track and of course the great Inspiration Information, but it needed more and for B to take some serious missteps which it for the most does not. I don't get Julia Holter at all, though. Maybe I'm listening to the wrong tracks but that one isn't swaying me.

It'd be cool to be able to tell people waiting in line with me at the grocery store that I lost to the BCB champion by one vote, but B has been my favorite list other than mine for a couple rounds now.

A has mousy brown hair, worn long and parted in the centre, with a pair of round Lennon specs to accentuate. An oddly-matched wardrobe with a checked lumberjack shirt worn under a tasseled brown leather jacket; skinny jeans and loafers complete the look.
This person spends a lot of time in record stores and gigs, showing their enthusiasm by nodding and sticking to soda, though they smoke a good deal of weed in private. They live in a small but comfortable apartment where they read music biographies and rarely eat anything that isn't fried. They are a bit shy of talking to the neighbours; one slightly older lady particularly disapproves.
They work as a clerk at a logistics company and dream of journalism.

B thinks of themself as rather louche, but their look is a little dated with much focus on suede. They are often to be found drinking cocktails alone at hip bars, thinking everyone else in the place is checking them out. They frequent gimmicky coffee shops in London and can't remember the last time they bought a record that wasn't a compilation, though they have strategically arranged some of the coolest-looking LPs in their collection around their flat in case of visitors. This person is prone to daydreaming and sometimes gets "looks" on the street as they bob around with a gormless, absent-minded grin plastered across their face, lost in their own thoughts.
They lived at home with their parents until the age of 28 and even now go home regularly to do laundry.

After patiently listening through all the tracks I'm not familiar with these are the ones I like:

from list A:
Lal & Mike Waterson - Bright Phoebus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mivxQR8MoNU
Funkadelic - I Got A Thing, You Got A Thing, Everybody Got A Thing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGVTEP0xoiw
Robert Calvert - Ejection - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD1MguybwEg
Mimi and Richard Farina - V - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8UfrC3HnmA
Talk Talk - Inheritance - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWThDKGVZJI
Kate Bush - The Morning Fog - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COvQhe4JkFQ
Pharoah Sanders - Colours - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEN7PpuQUY0
Strawbs - Witchwood - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XlT1jlD-xU
Jorge Ben - Oba, Lá Vem Ela - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVHA2lHaeqk
Michael Rother - Karussell - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PJDiDlORzw
John Martyn - Make No Mistake - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z11-bX5UGms
Robert Wyatt - Little Red Riding Hood Hit the Road - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRRpbgGFpAA
Roy Harper - When an Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY0N8ApcUMc

From list B:
United States of America – The Garden of Earthly Delights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0cuX0WSdhg
Nino Ferrer – Looking For You - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1s0-tbR-nzs
Friends Again – Honey at the Core - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2J-j10STME
Jorge Ben – Cassius Marcelo Clay - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVahtEOSJFk
The Pretty Things – Sad Eye - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc3GCfVxz14
Lafayette Afro Rock Band – Hihache https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3ckIovZRwk
Monsoon -Ever so Lonely - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7GEdO0fPvI
John Surman - Nestor's Saga - http://www.dailymo - tion.com/video/x31q1bh
Yusef Lateef - Eastern Market - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TveobyX-ps
Joe Harriott & Amancio D'Silva - Hum Dono - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXvfWnwfi20

so that's a 13-10 win for A but there were some in both lists that I'm not familiar with that I really liked a lot more than I expected so well done both on such good selections.

What a pitiful end.

What have we BCB done to deserve this?

Ah, so to the dank and musty sweatshop of averagosity that is the BCB cup final. I have to take issue with one of the contenders, who recognised where the strong competition lay, and so engineered a first-round travesty, aware that I would be bringing out the larger weaponry in later rounds. Both lists are coming from very similar territory, and that territory is the bargain vinyl shop in St Helens' market. A quid per DVD, too. A momentarily ups their game with a strong showing from Lover Boy Derrick, but it's too little, too late.

B has taken onboard the constructive criticism, and referenced the passing of time with Julia Holter. Not as good as "Everytime Boots" mind, which is the only track I really like by her. But "Hum Dono" is really lovely until the numpty starts murmuring over the top, and King Curtis is literally not bad.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Every time I think I prefer B a little more than A, I think of that Monsoon track and how A actually has the Calvert cracker. When's the cut-off point? I need time to digest this a little more.
