I like that Sunflower Bean, cheers B. But overall it's an A for me here.

I guess A, but not too inspired by it - ZigZag is one of the best songs of all time but so many more interesting Beefheart choices you can make.

Scratch that - just been reviewing B again and I'd like to change my mind - it snuck up on me. B

Tim Buckley - Buzzin' Fly - Yeah
Don and Dewey - Justine - Yeah
Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Zig Zag Wanderer - Well, of course
Willie Wright - Nantucket Island - Pretty much
Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Pt II - GAH, but yeah
Sparks - Something for the Girl with Everything - BCB Consensus
Supreme Jubilees - It'll All Be Over - BCB Consensus
Fleetwood Mac - Over and Over - Yeah, go on then.

This Will Be Our Year – The Zombies - OK
Lucky Number – Lene Lovich - Hmm, maybe
Stranger in a Strange Land – Leon Russell - Alright then, ok
Tilt a Whirl – Masters of Reality - Really?
American Beat ‘84 – The Fleshtones - This must have been in a film with some people from the 80s
Jesus Chrysler Drives a Dodge – The Screaming Blue Messiahs - No I don't think so
Come On – Sunflower Bean - I didn't like the other one either.
Elevator Operator –Courtney Barnett - this was charmless

Well, A was tick-boxey. It was great, but I'm getting fed up of tokenistic hiphop (even if it's good). Nothing to fault it in many respects and I'm sure it'll go far in the competition, yet nothing for me to think about and mull over, to explore. I liked the Will Wright choice most of all.

B, well, just didn't really have anything for me to sink my teeth into. To use the food metaphors of my esteemed colleague Frank, this was like a sad old falafel that had been out too long and wasn't going anywhere. Not enough texture and, the Leon Russell apart, not much for me to explore either.

A is a clear winner, but needs to up their game.

Another close call. Over and Over is a great choice for A but B has a great Leon Russel track and excellent Zombies track. Lene Lovich Ive always kinda liked but I have to go with A in a close one.

B for being slightly less obvious.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Two splendid lists, by and large.

Another fairly close tie, but A always had their nose in front.

A; 16 B: 12

B was Ray K. Sorry Ray.
Can I have three tracks from A please.
