Both pretty good, but I'll go with

Don't like either of these that much, but easily A, as it doesn't stick around long enough to bore me (even though it doesn't do much to excite me terribly either).

As much as I like the overall textures of B, it is a bit derivative.
Fortunately, A gets from 0 to infinity in warp speed tempo...levitate away!

A is competent but doesn't bring anything new to the table.
B is a non obvious Hawkwind pick from their 1980 Levitation album with Ginger Baker and motors along nicely.
B is okay but A gets the vote

Cool. Just as long as you are aware that Hawkwind is A and Egoband is B....

The Hawk's last great album with Peter Baker tubs!
ooooof!
Bouncebouncebounce!!!!
A great track selection
The tubs drive it along with the late great Huw Lloyd-Langton providing tasty guitar and Tim Blake the electronic bits
Short, sweet and delightful
Egoband are a band I have not heard of before
There were about ten bands in there from the good old days.
A little bit derivative for my old cloth ears - sorry
An easy choice for me:
-+A+-

Re: PC21- Round 3 Match 4
i agree with maarts and c on the hawkwind track. it moves fast and cranks. sends my tappin foot into hyperdrive.
it's weird... i love all the turn-ons i get in these cups. i *should* love that egoband track more than i do. (did that album reallly come out on '91? talk about a throwback.) it's just that it doesn't quite work for me. the pieces, the sum of the parts. i don't know why. maybe they sound like a really good cover band, doin a kind of classic rock medley, likeable, of course, but none of it really rises above. not the epic it wants to be, methinks. i might check out a few other tracks, though.

Are we sure B isn't a Marillion tribute band?

There were certainly many moments that sounded uncannily like Fish-era Marillion. I liked it well enough, especially some of the keyboard noodling but not the vocals which sounded like Fish suffering with a throat infection.
A was a blast from start to finish.

A - Oh a Hawkwind highteamoonweed (aka my username Hightea) song. Ok its late, rough week already and smoke now legal in NY. Do I need to state an opinion on the song. Did I mention I like space rock.
B- okay Italian 90's prog. Yes some Fish/Gabriel vocals but entertaining.

Egoband's song didn't fit together that well.

Re: PC21- Round 3 Match 4
Whether it’s derivative of old stuff is irrelevant to me, I just like music that takes me on a trip with twists and turns; the Hawkwind track cranks up and then stays pretty much where it started which is I suppose is all you’d expect to get from 3 mins. I don’t dislike it but B satisfies my cravings for adventurous prog far more, whoever it sounds a bit like... (and there’s a bit of Hawkwind in there too to my ears!).

There are some artists I am hard-wired to vote for almost without thinking.
God only knows what would happen if two of them are ever matched against each other.
