Another tricky one. I had that Kayak LP on Janus records and I took it slavishly around the world hoping over the decades it would appreciate in value, but it never did.

The Renbourn/Grossman track is lovely. Go on, then.

Like these both a great deal, but B surprised me a bit more. The Renbourn/Grossman collaboration was mostly about instructional vids - they put out several together on Kicking Mule Records, which Grossman owned - so I was expecting something a bit more formal. But as I said on a recent synch listen, Renbourn plays hard even on the more formal stuff. Much more heat here than I expected.

I know Maarts is a big fan of Kayak - well they are a Dutch band!

But more than that, they are a good Dutch band. This is a corker of a track taken from their 'best known' album.

I like them when I'm in the mood - and I am listen and I am in the mood - nice honky tonk piano and a tasty bass-line

Robust stuff

The Renbourn/Grossman track, is of course, an absolute delight.

Two virtuosos. Broad church prog which would fit nicely into a Folk Cup too.

Most enjoyable.

However, today, I am ready to ROCK!

oh mannnn. both tracks goin right after my musically bipolar/multipolar heart. the kayak full of bouncebouncebounce, nigh-glammy energy (and for me, that's a major compliment.) B, just incredible pickery.

i will therefore rely on my entirely scientific, rational approach.

B reminds me of how my brother used to play.

cheers to both, all the same.

I always associate Kayak with Quaco who is a huge fan and sent me a couple of their albums, but not this one. Very energetic and infectious, I loved it.

John Renbourne is a wonderful guitarist who I had the privilege of seeing him live a few times including in Hong Kong. I love his style and this duet is a wonderful piece with a hint of blues and a good change of pace throughout.

Such a strong match this and I want to get hold of both tracks so very hard to choose but I'll go A by a nose.

I was totally unaware of this UK/US guitar summit ever happening between those two beardy virtuosos.
This is a real treat, discovery of the round for me.

Still, I gotta give it to Ton Scherpenzeel's frantic piano

'Nother pair of excellent songs.

Kayak are new to me, enjoyed the bounce very much, a rather pop number and could easily imagine singing along.

JR & SG I've loved for a long time, wonderful collaboration of which this is the highlight. After all these years it still sends a shiver down my spine.

Had to laugh about the title of the Renbourn-album B was taken from. Snap A Little Owl is a literal translation of the Dutch proverb 'een uiltje knappen' which means to take a little nap.
I love the interplay that the likes of Renbourn, Grossman, Rice, Fahey and many others engage into. This track does that in many different ways and I like it a lot...

Royal Bed Bouncer was the first Dutch album I bought and this track is boss...still has got teeth, claws and nails.

B was a treat something I've never heard. Nice more guitar work from Renbourn. Like Renbourn's style and am a fan of Pentangle.

A - Kayak is always a band I would think I would really like and I find them just okay. This is a nice tune.
