I've always liked poppier side of Renaissance including this track from the rather good Scheherazade And Other Stories album. I chose the longer and much proggier A Trip to the Fair from the same album a few years back, forget whether it won or not.

A less familiar Popol Vuh pick here but still has that distinctive uplifting feel that draws me in immediately and keeps me hooked. A lovely track.

B

Four matches in and I'm liking everything so far, this won't do at all

Yawnsville. PV really are a 1 trick pony. Despite myself I'm voting for the Medieval nonsense.

More Popul Vuh a nice dreamy track.

Like these both, surprisingly. But in the end the PV just doesn't do enough. Yes, I'm actually complaining about a track in a prog cup being underdone.

A is the usual ridiculousness, but it raises some drama at least.

Oh dear - this is a dreadful puzzler for me!

The Renaissance track comes from one of my first prog albums, a real cherished memory. But I have already voted against the Popols once in this competition and can hardly face going against them again.

Ah well, perhaps I will get another opportunity?

I'm not going to let my 'this is not proper Renaissance' prejudice get in the way.

Deep breaths C be subjective (or is it objective?)

This is nice and sprightly - as our dear kath would say: bouncebouncebounce.

Pleasant but it really is Trigger's Broom!

Another PV track- of course another corker but this time up against weaker competition - sorry A

Some tasty guitar and Djong Yu's voice - beautiful!!

Love both of these songs. Had they been paired up with the XTC and Procul Harum songs from the previous tie then it would have been easy votes for both of them.

Apologies to Renaissance, the Popul Vuh is that much dearer to me.

Oh, this is more like it, fine match. I have big love for both of these groups, and these tunes come from right in the quality sweet spot of the artists. Maybe A by a nose, for its energy as well as beauty. B is a lovely noise though.

Again Popol Vuh floats along pleasantly enough but what does it do, where does it go? I think I will pop a couple of albums on a work playlist as they seem ideally suited to that.

A pleases me slightly more.

4 matches in and really only Leprous apart it’s been a bit of a damp squib for me. Let’s hope tomorrow adds a bit more life to proceedings.

A- your all nuts I love this Renaissance pick (no I didn't pick it) saw them in 2012 and they did the whole Scheherazade and Other Stories

B- nice guitar work and minor singing. But it never goes anywhere. Still nice tune should listen to more PV

Interesting question Bob.

Bob, but does it need to go anywhere...?

Here's a great example of 'quality going nowhere'

It's robust stuff!

Never really saw the appeal of the teutonic harmony junkies.

B is a lovely peace of strumming and has this bit of Americana-vibe around it when the little solo comes in.
I do have a soft spot for Annie on this track so here's a little love for
