Il Balletto di Bronzo were not one of the top-tier 70s Italian prog bands but this album has some strong material and the track selection here is a robust one.

B is DC

I was never much into the Italian prog scene but Il Balletto di Bronzo's Ys features the type of manic, dark and intense prog that really resonates with me. A easily.

A is my kind of prog - lots of twists and turns and even enough variety to (almost) justify the length.

B sounds like their favorite prog band was Asia. Too much 80s slickness for me, though some of the synth lines were cute.

A had lots of dated keyboard sounds, but not in a good way. It started off nicely enough though but I became bored over its duration, there was just not enough interesting moments to hold my attention.

B was somewhat bland but pleasant enough, some nice keyboard touches and it developed well. I think on the whole I preferred it to A.

Mmmmmmmmm... the blandness of Lifesigns against the flavour of Il Balletto di Bronzo?

A - complexed and takes you on several tangents,

B. slow but catching.

A classic italian prog gets my vote

I must be getting old, but I found the old DC crew much more pleasant to listen to than the tunelessness of the ancient Italians.

A's one of Italian prog's finest moments, if not the very finest. There's a proto-RIO power there, and some fantastic playing too. To quote C, B is DC.

I like both of these. Tough choice but when in doubt go with post 1974 prog.

I should know by now, that in these competitions it's best not to include tracks by bands that you really rate. For me Lifesigns are the best current prog rock band, their founder John Young has a musical pedigree from his time in The Strawbs and Asia. To dismiss the band as derivative claptrap is feeble-minded.

It amuses me no end that Rock Progressivo Italiano is, despite dating from the 70s, is an almost entirely derivative genre of prog rock with the bands liberally lifting ideas from Genesis, ELP, King Crimson and VDGG. If is wrong for bands to use those influences today, it must have been wrong for the Italians to do the same in the 70s.
