Wow!

Two more Carlsson corkers - both on my DNA and neither need playing

Winwood's amazing vocals and piano/organ have the edge. A great track selection

[Incidentally, my view is that Wind & Wuthering is vastly underrated and better than Trick of the Tail]

I couldn't resist palying one... oooooooooooooooooof!

Another pair of excellent tracks!

Going to have to vote in accordance with the hierarchy of my musical taste.

Like these both, all the more so because they avoid the obvious and/or meandery tracks from the respective bands. A is refreshingly short and direct, but B has to win out. With all the middling Winwood we've had lately in these things, it's just so nice to hear him in peak form, basically excelling at everything he touches. Capaldi > Will Jennings (or Viv Stanshall, for that matter) as a lyricist too, while we're at it.

Two tracks that appear on average albums in my mind. I was never the biggest Traffic/Steve Windwood fan anyway, so it had an uphill climb here and didn't make it very far if I'm being honest. As for the Genesis track, it's decent enough to gain my vote, even though there are far better Collins-era Genesis tracks, especially on A Trick of the Tail or Seconds Out. A here.

Preferred the space in the Traffic song, Genesis was slightly too crowded.

Two very nice tunes

A- prefer the first 3 tunes and Blood on the Rooftops on the underrated W& W. However still a nice tune especially Banks who wrote it.

B- classic Traffic - Winwood, Wood and Capaldi all amazing on this tune.

A battle of 2 classics; both having made Cup appearances previously, esp. "Empty Pages" which is always a sure winner.

Afterglow works better as part of the album or the closing section of the live In The Cage medley than it does as a standalone track but it's a stirring ballad all the same.

Empty Pages is one of my favourite Traffic songs and I've been listening to a lot of Winwood recently so suits my current mood better.

We're in extremely familiar territory here, no surprises and both would be outright disqualified for not digging deep enough were they up against other pairs. Worse yet, even as far as obvious choices go, these aren't very good exactly either. I've never been a fan of Traffic, I find them pretty anemic and uncreative to my mind, their songs say very little to me - but this is one of their better tracks, which makes it just above average I suppose. A is the point at which I fell out of love with Genesis on the other hand - it's far from their best material and not exactly any more obscure for that matter. So, B I suppose, for being a better pick for that respective band.

Oh man. Afterglow is the sound of a million sunsets. B is a pale misty morning in comparison..
