It surely can’t get any worse than Round 5.

Please.

I'm thinking we'll have a hard time topping Round 5 actually.

Far as I'm concerned, it's the point where I drop off of Genesis' career, where they sound more like their DC offsprings than the real deal. That it's one of the more palatable cuts off of Wind & Wuthering only shows how bad that whole deal was. Hackett did well in leaving/getting kicked off the band at that point. :)

I entirely agree with you about Genesis being toast after W&W - I parted company at that point too.

But W&W in my opinion is a very good album and afterglow is a very robust track

Downhill from there most certainly

I’d consider W&W to be an average progressive rock album. It’s tepid, lacks the ambition and songwriting of its predecessor (which I consider to be the last ‘good’ Genesis album), and gave way to the vapid pop period that followed. They should’ve named the follow up, ...And Then They Were Thrash because that’s an absolute stinker of an album. :D “Afterglow” is an alright piece, but it doesn’t inspire much in me.

Genesis and thrash in the same sentence just doesn’t work.
