Two beloved musical artists of mine, but A is not prog on any level.

B isn't really either - it's not stodgy and humorless for starters - but it's always given me much pleasure. "Pardon me I'm very drunk, but I know what I'm trying to say" indeed.

I like both. The git-tar takes it.

This is the acoustic interlude of round 2. Both nice but I liked A more on account of not having Robert Wyatt singing.

I should listen to more early T Rex.

Not much in it really. Prefer the one with Robert Wyatt's vocals.

A is frankly risible. Don't care too much for B either but it wins out here.

I just adore A Beard of Stars - I saw them on that tour in a small venue (they were great) - I chatted to Marc about a cut on his finger and his worry about playing guitar.

I must play this album tomorrow. Incidentally, they weren't T Rex at the time of this release.

Out of all the Canterbury scene stuff Matching Mole is the one band I have always struggled with.

Now is no exception

A- not really familiar with this early stuff. It's quite nice would listen to the whole album. Not sure I would call it prog but see the elements that its worthy.

B- not the song I would take for Matching Mole but still an easy win

I know this isn't really serious, but this sort of humour was pretty characteristic of prog at large, there was a *lot* of satire and wordplay and cheekiness in the genre, from Canterbury to Genesis to R.I.O. to ELP's cowboy songs and whatnot.

As for this match, it's another good one! Quite enjoyed the psych-folk stylings and twisty melodies of both. But can I bring myself to vote against the Comrade himself? Nope. B.

Whoever first thought it would be a good idea to stand Robert Wyatt in front of a microphone should be ashamed of himself for inflicting humiliation on the guy himself and agony on the listening public.

Deaths of famous musicians I have never met don’t really trouble me but I do sometimes wistfully wonder what they would have produced musically if they had been able to.

Marc Bolan is one of those. I’d LOVE to have heard where his muse took him as he reached (proper) maturity. His days of chart success were behind him at the time of his death and his creativity might just have fizzled out, but I doubt it.

A just merely hints at a song but it's a nice ditty.
B has a bit more meat on the bones. It has something homely about it I really like.

Nice matchup here, but I have more connection with Matching Mole. B it is.

Funny how these matches turn out sometimes - two drumless, acoustic ditties!

I love Wyatt 's voice, tune and lyrics so much more than Bolan's annoying whine, it's a resounding B from me
