23 Skidoo's "Coup" is a mutant funk classic, everything from its sneaking bassline to the way it messes around with volume levels hits a particular spot and hard. A all the way.
It's before my time but I've been told, he never came back from Karangahape Road.

These are both at least some interesting picks. I’m seeing B as the better track overall, though.

A couple of interesting tracks. A had a satisfying funky groove with a tasty bass line and nice horns.
B's mimimalist electronica still sounds compelling and ahead of its time. The subtle changes throughout are barely perceptible and how it manages to sustain interest over its full hour duration is really quite remarkable. This 10 minute snippet is a good taster but the piece needs to be taken as a whole.

A strong tie but I'll go B

A all day long (which is coincidentally how long B takes to go not much of anywhere) and thrice on Friday night.

This kind of organic funk (read: not overly synthesized) still existed into well into the 80s, but outside of a few urban pockets, it got buried under "the sounds of the day." I wish more studio concoctions had taken off in this direction, but I treasure what's out there.

Neither is my bag, to be honest. A is probably slightly less not my bag.

23 Skidoo turned me on to a lot different sounds back in the day. I always thought they were more inventive than Cabaret Voltaire (whom I always compared them to for some reason). This is a relatively mainstream track for them - I love its mix of clattering drums, Latin percussion, frenetic bass and those rising horns. Its an exciting mix of funk and early electro.
B is the kind of thing I often like, but this didn't really grab me. The main problem was the central musical motif wasn't pretty or interesting enough to warrant all the repetition.

I always think I should like 23 Skidoo a lot more than I do. But this is a pretty good track.
Not convinced by the other one though

Ah, this is the one that the Chemical Brothers nicked for "Block Rockin' Beats" then? I have their debut album, but they never did much for me. This seems to have a bit more meat on the bones than I recall though, I like the way the additional percussion is clattering off against the drum line, but still keeping a proper tight groove going. I like the brass here, too, there's a lot going on in this track.

B seems more in line with my general type of thing, but it doesn't appear a particularly stellar example of early electronica. Chris Carter did this stuff better, earlier. Still, I bet if I heard the full album, rather than a 10 minute snippet, I'd probably appreciate it more. For a cup, however, A has understood the brief, and the value of the brief.

Despite the genre in a blender hot mess that is A, i quite like it.
B is ten minutes of going nowhere. Slowly. Awful.

Yeah, B is in that field of repetitive and very long electronic music that gains a lot of BCB traction but which I can’t hear as much more than background music. A all the way.
