Re: 80s Cup Final Match 9
More likely to listen to B again but I prefer A.

Probably the most interesting match of the finals so far, though mostly because both tracks have a pretty intriguing texture going on even if they run a little thin as standalone tracks. I'd be curious to hear B in its context, but I feel that on its own A does a little more.

The 23 Skidoo song doesn't do much for me. In fact I'm not really a Chemical Brothers fan but I'd rather hear 'Block Rockin' Beats' than this, which has a bit of bite and force with the bass groove but is otherwise just a succession of random noises, many of which are quite irritating. The Americans did this kind of mutant funk much better: see my Liquid Liquid pick in the group stage.
E2-E4 is a strange piece, for me: it's an hour-long record which is just one guy jamming around with a certain little loop he's hit upon, but it's become massively influential and important. I don't find the whole record that interesting to listen to, but the actual sound of the thing is what matters: no, you don't need to listen to the whole thing, but just listening to a few seconds of it one can hear how much future generations took from it.
