Easy B, though it goes on a little longer than it has to. Without the Arabic touches it's a typical 80s track, which proves it doesn't take much. A is typical defined.

Both waayyy nicer than match 1, I'll say A for now because I've never heard it before.

Good to see that some people are still crate-digging for the final, I've never heard of 28th Day before. It's not exactly a stunning track, jangle pop with an almost Sonic Youth slacker attitude to the vocals and some of the guitar. Needs a bit more oomph, a bit more flair, a bit more colour.
"I'm up the bloody tree". Love the incongruous northernness of that line. It's a bit of a cheese-fest, but catchy. In a Men Without Hats, Aneka, Baltimora way. I'm torn. The first track doesn't do enough, the second track is a bit desperate.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Re: 80s Cup Final Match 2
A has that slightly bored downbeat vocal that is common to a lot of this kind of low-fi guitar driven music. It was decent enough but not something that appealed much to my 80's tastes.
I always liked that Blancmange tune and it inspired me to check out more of their music but I never did find anything else remotely as good. Never the less I still really enjoy this one with its neat eastern flavours.

For those that don't know it, jump to 1.55 (it'll probably make no sense at all to those outside the UK!).

Re: 80s Cup Final Match 2
A was completely new to me (I've not even heard the band's name before). I really like the quasi-psychedelic sound of the guitars which reminded me of "The End". But it's one of those where the sound of the thing is much better than the song ( which seemed quite ordinary).
B has been a favourite of mine since its release, it has such an infectious momentum and is far and away the best thing the band did. I remember it getting revived in the early rave days ( when there was a more eclectic, Balearic approach to dj sets) in clubs and thinking how well it fitted in with the Chicago and Detroit stuff as this hypnotic electronic dance track.
Nice to be introduced to something new, but B

You're not alone. Have you seen this?
ANyway, I'll go with B. I love his beautiful Epiphone Coronet.
Edit: Doh! I see G beat me to it!

Ooh. Difficult one. A is new to me as well, and I enjoyed it. B has that frenetic but melodic thing going on.

I didn’t think that much of A, more of an atmosphere than a song. Whereas B remains a periennial favourite of mine, great fun and easily the high water mark from that band.

Oh man, A stands no chance here. B is a great pop track of its time, fun and appealing still. I'll take A though for its mix of moody psychedelia and crunchy pop/rock.

Re: 80s Cup Final Match 2
A is completely unknown to me, but I really rather enjoyed it, especially the guitar sound. It reminded me of something in particular (probably equally obscure contemporaries, such as Zounds' more psych tracks, or the Colours Out of Time) that I could not quite place. and it kept getting better. Yeah, excellent stuff.
I can remember that B annoyed me at the time, at least partly through the name of the band, but mainly the totally shit vocals and the vocalist's hair. Plus they always seemed like a low-rent version of OMD, who aren't all that in the first place. The belly-dancing interludes got on my pip and all.
A by a considerable distance

Mmmm, like it when the guitars jangle in a Feelies-like vibe but the vocals leave me cold.
B is classic, i hate voting for it but if I'm totally honest, I like it much more.
