A - Tend to like the Coil tracks I've heard but they still under welm me. This is a nice tune but how do you go against Siouxsie's charming tune.

I’m not entirely convinced by the Banshees in big production mode but it’s palpably better here.

A was ok but not really my thing, a bit too modern austere or something, dry. B is fab.

a - I never heard anything by Coil before being introduced to them by Driftin and darknessfish on the Refuge, where I discovered that they were nothing like the Gristle, and had a real flair for tunefulness and unusual sound textures. The Ape of Naples is a splendid collection of songs. I never heard this one before, though, and I thought it was rather lovely in places, and the dog at the beginning sent Scrap into a mad frenzy of woofery - there's another dog in the house! - which is a testament tothe sound quality: he's never done that to Caroline, No.
b - I was a fan of Siouxsie, but I'd stopped buying their albums before Hyaena came out, so this is new to me. And the Banshees are swamped under those strings, the distinctive sound of the band gone, which is a shame. Not remotely 'Spectoresque' about the arrangement or production of course, just general 80s kitchen sink shit, though he would have made a decent fist of producing her.

Never got Siouxsie, not then, not now, but then Coil... very interesting, a startling discovery. A
