A is...kinda cute. No particular reason for it to exist, but it didn't hurt.

B did kinda hurt, but in a good way.

A was actually quite nice, however I have a soft spot for stuff like this VPs track having been in many bands that attempted similar stuff (the secret is that you can get away with anything if you all start, change and stop at exactly the same time).

Funny to think that Gavin Friday went on to produce really tuneful mellow stuff like Angel.

B is exactly the sort of thing I listened to in my halcyon student days.

Not a very auspicious start.
I used to know a girl called Pauline (very unsexy name, but she was as sexy as hell) who was into The Virgin Prunes and I remember feigning an interest. They were rubbish of course. I might have found a vote for "Pagan Love Song" but this is really scraping the barrel.
A's amiable, anodyne travelogue is of zero interest to me, but I'll throw it a bone as it's already losing and I'd like to see The Dane win a tie.

I'd have thought A was a contender for the penalty list, to be honest. I've just checked my list of things that have no reason to exist, and as it wasn't present, have added it directly between sprouts and the phrase "I could care less".

B has surprised me by just how good it is. I mean, yeah, I've heard it four million times before, but I just heard it again, and it's still fucking awesome. Perhaps even more so. That bass line. That drum line collapsing in on itself. The way that vocal harmonies are perfectly balanced, like they almost have a telepathic understanding, and therefore don't actually need to care that they're shouting over the top of each other. It's chaos in punk form, with an immense bass.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Credit to whoever made the video for A for just throwing together a load of images of things that are or might be Mexican. The song itself is utterly harmless fluff. Until the stupidy-ass guitar solo comes in. That's where I turned it off.
B is OK, it has some scratchy appeal in its controlled chaos, though nothing that really excites me either.

Fuck me B is atrocious. Tuneless artwank made by talentless chancers with an Adam Ant obsession. Drivel.
A by default.

Both dire. I suppose B is slightly less appalling but I can’t actually bring myself to vote for it. For the first time

A was harmless, pleasant enough. I have an odd relationship with B: it came out at the peak of my singles buying, and I hoovered up a coy of the Twenty Tens EP, which I since sold on for £9 to someone in Dublin. But I didn't like it. At all, only played it couple of times. Listening to it now, 30-odd years later, though, it makes more sense. yes, it's very shouty, but, in between, the bass is entertaining and there's various other nice noises. still not the faintest idea what it is 'about', if anything, but

Yeah, B. A is nice enough, but not enough.
