When we get round to the grindcore cup, I think that will possibly be a slow day. Silly things.

Ahh. Proggrindcore.

Second round noticeably weaker than the first.

I've listened to about three-quarters of it now, and most of it been a real chore. And I thought I liked 80s music. Think the other rounds will be better though, they can hardly be worse.

Damn, there was some weird shit going down back then. One would think people don't want votes.

That was a nice 90 minutes to spend on the two rounds while sitting in a Miami laundromat for my clothes to dry.

Got some weird looks when I played the Fad Gadget-clps though....

Something tells me that my idea of letting my wife choose the majority of my picks is, if current voting trends continue, going to backfire spectacularly.

I'm not a competitor so I didn't "choose" Dio. I rather hear this than New Order. Although there is merit in their output I find much of it, particularly this song, too miserable to bother with now. I liked Joy Division and NO well enough in the 80s, but the earnest and sometimes preciousness of both group's music has caused me to lose interest.

Don't take your eyes off your clothes, or you'll be buying a new [Miami!] wardrobe.

Also, if someone bumps your rental car from behind, DO NOT get out of your car. Doors locked.

Enjoy.

This competition seems to have a particularly high quotient of cloth eared twats. That is all.

We're probably talking about different songs here - in fact I'm sure we are - but damn, is this ever true.

Not only is my stuff getting creamed, but so's anything I like put forth by anyone else. Usually in favor of blip/bleep/preen/pose/lather/rinse/repeat for at least five minutes without variation.

I keep getting reminded of exactly why it's my least favorite decade ever for music.

I sat out much of the 80s, so my picks would be redolent of previous decades, i.e. recognizable tunes.

Disappointing that some people who entered aren't bothering to vote in some, or indeed any, of the ties.

I'm going to try! I can't give anything a meaningful listen at work, and my 97-year old father-in-law just moved in with us on Monday and free time has been a bit scarce. Excuses, excuses...I know.

It's also disappointing that some people who entered do bother to vote. I swear G votes just to be contrary to me, even though he's normally voted first.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
