Neither do anything for me - sorry
Lacking in music and somewhat dreary to my old ears
However, I will place a positive vote....

B certainly didn't make me satisfied either.

Christ, A is a frigging cloying saccharine mess, a horrible wet mess of limp shitness. To think that Les Rallizes Denudes lost so that drivel like this could be presented in a semi-final. The horror, the horror.
I'm surprised that Ernie went on to be the one who found fame after Barbara ditched him, his unexpected partnership with Bert proving much more successful, despite Babs' obvious greater vocal power. I'm not sure I'm listening to the same songs as everyone else so far in this round, this is so obviously that much of a stronger song than A as to be laughable, and I don't even like this kinda thing much. What gives, ya bunch of freaks?

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

Not much actual song going on in either case, and this is the shit chopped up and resold for parts on public radio in the early 90s, resulting in some of my least favorite music ever.
B is the better of the two grooves being beaten into a fine powder here. And you know the powder of which I speak.

Sod the usual BCB joyless curmudgeons, these are two great selections.
Nino Ferrer remains a hugely underrated artist and this was a great period for him when he melded folk, funky grooves and chanson into a highly original and, very European, light, sensual mix. This is amazingly pretty with that combination of Rhodes and finger picking acoustics ( creating the template for Air's first few records). It's a truly beautiful, immersive sound mix - just listen to the playing and lose yourself in it. The track then takes a left turn into something darker and more desperate which was something Ferrer was very good at.
B is new to me and I found it's arranged by one of my favorites Deodato. Great bluesy vocal and loose funky playing. The stripped down arrangement creates a really intimate atmosphere making the gospel interjections all the more powerful. Great pick and I'll be checking out some of their other tracks for sure.
Close..but A

What a good tie.
A with backing by the Lafayette Afro Rock Band, no less. B with piano by Keith Jarrett, no less.
Both blindingly good tracks and it pains me to vote against one of them.

A was lovely and I can really see the influence on Air, a band I like a great deal.
I liked B and loved its sparse arrangement but was less keen on the gospel backing vocals which didn't seem necessary but still liked it a lot.
Unlike my good friend above I found this tie to be FULL of music.
Very, very close but I'll give it to A

another great match. i love the way the piano and keys come into B, along with a great vocal. A is sweeter to my ear, though.

Wow, both are quite beautiful! The only thing splitting them is that Ferrer us just that little bit more memorable to me.
