Oh good match. I have a lot of time for early solo Rod, and he sings the hell out of this one. But there is something really moving and beautiful about this AC track, it works its magic on me every time.

Re: 70s KnockOut Cup- QF 3
a - well, I owned this album back in the day, and played it quite a bit. Before punk turned up, this sort of thing was the only available antidote to progshit. The album's long gone (vertigo swirl label albums have always been catnip to certain collectors), and I haven't heard this in decades. Truth to tell, I wasn't particularly moved, although I enjoyed the piano, as I usually do. It's a little bit on the wrong side of the stately statement/downbeat dirge divide 4.5 / 10
b - never really listened to Mrs C before, and I definitely prefer mouth harp to the angel's Zimmer frame variety, but I do like old Pharaoh's squawking style - although it's rather toned down here, to good effect. And, as DF says, when Alice takes over the track, it's all cascades, laughter and tropical showers. No faster than its opponent, but a lovely lightness of touch. Jazz really isn't my thing, but this is very nice 6 / 10
B, surprisingly

I’m not entirely taken with either. I’d never really want to listen to B that often but it’s got a pleasing vibe, I’ll give it that.

i do like the vibe of B. but i also do love early rod. before he became a walking embarrassment. his vocals, the excellent pickery, the more... folksy feel he could manage to pull off, back when he sounded more raw and more real.

Nonsense to the aggressiveness, I've seen more aggression on the my little pony message board......I mean I was told.

I love Gasoline Alley. But I was prepared to be won over by B. And in fact I was. Difficult but

I could watch the stars and listen to B endlessly on a loop. Unfortunately it is cloudy today...

Well, the other 2 i'm not so sure about, but if one of those JP songs was 'Delivering the Goods' you may well have won my vote Cheers xo
