B is cute. A is epic. I tend to like 60s Pentangle more than 70s, but that's one of their better later tracks.

If I fancied getting the atmosphere of Henry VIII's court, I'd get myself along to Hampton Court - rather than listen to this interminable 7 minute shitfest.

Re: 70s KnockOut Cup Tiebreak 1
A just goes on too long and is full of all the stuff that the genre is often criticised for ('fa-la-la', aimless acoustic guitar noodling).
B is a load of stupid bollocks but sounds a wee bit better than A (and I'm supposed to be nice to Aspies)

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Re: 70s KnockOut Cup Tiebreak 1
A is pleasant, but the sort of thing I have to be in the mood for. In general it's a bit too trad and generic sounding for me to be greatly interested. I prefer folk when it's a bit stranger and more atmospheric ( which is why I prefer, say, "Willow's Song" in the last round to this, even though this is supposedly more "authentic").
There are a number of tracks on Replicas I'd take over this, but these days I've got a fair bit of time for old Gazza. I like the muscularity of the drumming and the overall sound even if there's better on the album.

Fair enough (though I disagree that this lacks atmosphere), but just for the record - there's absolutely nothing "authentic" about any traditional song the second you add a guitar.

I'd much rather listen to A these days. I love 'Cars' still, but the rest of Numan's stuff hasn't aged as well for me.

A is my kind of twee. I haven’t heard much Pentangle beyond the obvious but this was very nice.
B was, like most Numan beyond the big hits, just OK. Nothing special, nothing offensive.

Re: 70s KnockOut Cup Tiebreak 1
A is a bit dull, and fol-de-rol. Never got into Pentangle. Bert and John are all right, but Jacquie McShee is ditchwater and who cares about the rhythm section? And Jaysus traditional songs, traditionally sung, are hard going. I lasted two minutes - seven would be masochism. 2 / 10. But fear not, A,
B is Gary Numan, and he's on the List. No mark
An inglorious victory

I like both. I liked B more than I expected to, actually.
