I am generally opposed to songs with children singing, but some of those early Jackson cuts really had something. This is comfortably the best of theirs to have appeared in the cup, with a delightful arrangement and a good vocal from Nic Cage's father-in-law.

B was actually written by gluing bits of sideburn hair onto the side of a pool table with stale bitter. True story.

a - I already said how I feel about 70s Jacksons and the alarming drop-off in quality of Motown after the move from Detroit. Thias has just enough of the old signature sound and Motown-ness to remind me what's missing - sparkle, bounce, tautness and most importantly, songwriting genius. Still, decent lead vocal (the big brothers are just decoration, really) 4.5 / 10
b - I enjoyed the single when it came out, particularly the earworm guitar-figure and the lilting (sorry about the cliche, but it's the only adjective that fits) tone of the vocals, but surely that wasn't nearly six minutes long? 4.5 / 10

B for the usual reason

Did it really have to be that Lizzy track? I despair.

How many became Thin Lizzy fans when they first heard B? B it is

No, and it's not overplayed in the U.S. like "The Boys are Back in Town" is. And it isn't diminished by Metallica's cover.

Liking a Metallica cover of a Thin Lizzy song is like eating your own shite
