another J5 song? no matter - this one has that fresh (I was going to say 60s but it must have just made it into the next decade) Motown sound I love: tambourines, busy bass, feather-light vocals. A total peach

What a sparkling and effervescent track A is. Great production and I don't think Michael Jackson ever sung better. The best J5 pick so far.
I do like the Lizzy track, but it's a bit overfamiliar and can't help sounding a little tired next to A.

Ugh. I feel as negative as Jumper K's posts now.
I can't be doing with this.
I can't be doing with this.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A quite charming really, the young Jacko before he went Wacko.
B, why didn't you pick The Boys Are Back In Town? There's no arguing with that!

Thin Lizzy can shove it, quite frankly. Music for terrible men in atrocious pubs.

I've picked A for the main cup before. Thin Lizzy were a bit rubbish.

I'm a big Thin Lizzy fan, even this lineup, but "Whiskey..." really isn't the best of theirs, by quite some way.
The Jackson 5 track is beautiful.... Michael sounds better than ever, it's a lovely production.... and that's one of the greatest James Jamerson basslines ever - and you know how special that makes it.
A in a landslide.

i'm a thin lizzy fan, and while i dig some of the gweetaring and it's listenable, this track is kinda pedestrian. i think if yer gonna cover a traditional tune, you need to do something more with it. something special.
this is my kinda jackson 5. sigh.

I don't mind B, but I don't think it's anything special, and overfamiliarity makes things worse. While A is absolutely brilliant.

I like a bit of Thin Lizzy, unfortunately not really this bit. A was nice, light and bubbly despite really not being my bag at all and not something I'll miss if I never hear it again.
I'll throw a loaded dice in favour of B

Re: 70s Cup Final Round Match 10
God, of all the Lizzy picks...I would've preferred "The Boys are Back in Town." Though of course I would've criticized the obviousness. But this is almost as obvious and about 1/1,000th as good.
A is typical Motown - meaning brilliantly produced and effortlessly catchy and light. And beautifully sung.
