A isn't terrible - unlike some of the Boomtown Rats stuff I've heard - it's just a whole lot of nothing much.
B has a bit of a cheap-and-cheerful quality to it, that kind of end-of-the-pier feeling that soul productions could sometimes have if they got it wrong. Not one of the finer moments from Hi!

Two strange picks but B is briefer and livelier.

Syl Johnson is the bee’s knees. This not the most standing-out track but a good one all the same.

And then we have the Boomtown Rats. This track is so Springsteen-smitten it’s obscene. I fucking hate it.

is that any way for a young girl to be?”

A single cost 45p in those days, and that’s what I paid for that shite.
