A is overlong but it's a hell of a jam with tight arrangements and a real lightness of touch. There's a real buoyant charge to the track. The kind of funk meets disco that I was hoping to see more of in this cup.
The Nilsson track is a very annoying novelty song that soon becomes tiresome.
Easily A

A although it's a very average funk, r'n'b workout.
Never could see the appeal of Nilsson as he was a Beatles/McCartney stand-in artist. See also Badfinger.

Bloody hell, Brass Construction have properly cheated on Splatoon 2 there, meant to be four people per team, not nine. Not managed to get much paint splashed around, even so. It's a tight, by the numbers repetitive disco number with brass n strings n all that, and it does it quite well. Might be the best record of this kind since some knowledgeable and handsome bastard picked an overlong Arthur Russell track a few rounds ago. Bit cheeky to call your song Changin' and keep playing the same thing though.
In that cover, Nilsson reminds me of the geezer in Pulp Fiction who they drive Uma Thurman to after she's overdosed. Lying there, covered in her own vomit after taking an accidental overdose of heroin, she has much more dignity than this embarrassing tasteless monstrosity.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A's got the grooves. i love a track that makes me wanna dance but is packed full of gweetar, horns, strings, in such a wonderful way. (in case anyone has missed this, what doesn't make me dance: repetitive, cycling morodor-like sounds.)
at the same time, that nilsson track has ever made me just plain happy. it may be a novelty song (not sure about that, or that novelty songs are by definition bad), it may be silly, but it has never-ending appeal for me. i've been known to sing it to actual doctors, mwhaha. er... probably shouldn't've admitted that. what do doctors expect if they give me laughing gas or morphine? cmon.
the question is which way to go (she looks again at the current vote tally)...
okayyyy then.

Nilsson is an artist That I typically enjoy a lot, but B is an odd pick. There are a few tracks in that specific album that could win this match, but not this one.
I'm not keen for that kind of long funk things with so little variation inside, but the groove in A was a killer.

I like A fine, but I'm going to vote for B because no one else is doing it. Novelty song though it may be, it's a clever one, there's endless variation musically considering it's basically one chord, and the singing's great (which goes without saying as it's Nilsson). It really doesn't deserve to be the bastard child of his repertoire. Nor does he deserve to be dismissed as a mere Beatle imitator.

A had a great groove, really enjoyed it. Nilsson has simply never clicked with me and this track didn’t help one iota, I didn’t get it at all.

For years I thought B was a Muppet-original...I mean, the song is naff as...
Oh, how I laughed when I heard the original....
Maybe if that version was entered I would vote for it.... but for me it is

They're called Brass Construction and they're on a construction site, with brass instruments. Bring back Gerry Rafferty and his Prisoner Transport Owl!
Nice groove they have going on. I'm not a huge fan of the gang vocals thing that funk bands did in the '70s, a bit too Village People. Nice ringing guitar sound though.
B is cute but not something I'd want to hear too often. I've never really connected with Nilsson.
